Again, as on Tuesday, I don’t understand the Danny Mayor criticism. Comfortably our best player, our main attacking threat. It’s not his fault that he’s playing behind and trying to feed a rather powderpuff strike force.

People think it makes them seem like a football brainbox if they go along the popular line that Mayor is somehow rubbish. They keep saying he's got no end product (by which they only mean goals) but this season that is starting to sound a bit flimsy when the other midfielders are hardly ahead of him and some only because it stuck in a puddle for them...so now they are all getting their story switched to 'he slows the game down'
Verifiable Brian Cloughs all round

Slating your best players is a very Argyle thing. Our fanbase just love players who run around a bit and tweet nice things.
Couldn't agree more. Was the same around me with Ruben Reid who used to get slated despite being the best player on the park for us.
Funnily enough when he sat in the stand injured one week the usual critics were fawning over him like no one's business

I don’t recall many rating Songo as any decent player. But agreed he was dreadful as a midfielder.

I think part of the problem with Mayor is the TV comms team bigging him up so often as ‘one of the best in the league’ and it’s simply way off the mark isn’t it. Danny’s attitude seems utterly fine, but a player pushing for a L1 PFA team, absolutely no chance, yet he’s lumbered by that expectation. Makes you wonder where the myth originated ;)

They're not powderpuff though are they? Hardie is right up there. Wasn't it you saying you would love to see Mayor playing in this team?! Irony.

50 shots & 1 goal screams powderpuff to me.

Hardie drops to the floor whenever he touches the ball, Jephcott just loses it. Garrick at least looks somewhat of a threat.
You say 50 shots, when it's actually 42. Of those 42 shots, how many decent chances did Mayor directly create? Can you tell me of a single chance that Mayor created today, for this powderpuff strikeforce?

If we try and deal with just facts in this matter, is it not a fact that Mayor has started in three of our four league defeats this season?
This would mean that statistically, for some reason, our performances and results are better when Mayor does not start.
Surely if this is a fact, it is worth trying to figure out why this is?
Have you looked at the last three teams we have played or doesn’t that matter? The Mayor bashing is pathetic
