The investigating body said pointedly that Manchester City were obstinate and difficult during the whole investigation period and not co -operative with the investigation committee one bit. Funny how all of sudden they have the evidence to deny any wrong doings all along . Why did they not reveal the irrefutable evidence when given every opportunity to do just that. Out of all leagues!!,an absolute disgrace of a football club now and will always be in my eyes for sure. Let Bury FC take their place in whatever league they end up in.C'mon you Shakers!!.

It’s now a diplomatic incident with the UAE saying sanctions will threaten their relationship with the UK and lead to them pulling billions of pounds of investment. What a mess. Along with the PMs comments trying to
Influence the situation this will no doubt impact on the severity of the punishment. Whilst it’s not the FAs fault they cheated they have a lot to answer for in allowing a rich foreign country own an English football club.

I don't think they are saying they have new evidence , but that the original tribunal have misinterpreted/ misunderstood the evidence they were given .

They are hoping power & influence will keep them where in their minds they rightfully should be - it is like they live in a totally separate world to the rest of the English Football Pyramid & believe they should adhere to their perceived rules & screw everyone else because they have never ending wealth
They have been shown to have manipulated & deceived the professional bodies that run the top tier of English Football over a sustained period of years - what was they expecting a confidential email & a slapped wrist
Now with politicians involved it makes you wonder how they were allowed to be taken over , how it was deemed the current owners passed the Owners & Directors Test
If the Independent Football Regulator had been in place when they were in the process of being taken over would they have entertained the current Owners of Man Citeh

If sonething like this is to be the case, it has to be done early so that teams in L2 know what they are playing for. Same for the PL relegation slots. It's just one massive mess.
It is just one huge mess. What appears clear is that for this season the EPL tribunal can do what they like ; suspend , recommend expulsion ( that then has to be voted through) , fine ,points deductions . Transfer bans can be imposed over successive seasons but its not clear if points deductions can be made over successive seasons and how that will work .

If they are expelled then they have to rejoin League 2 , but only if the EFL clubs vote it through and possibly the EFL could impose its own conditions as a condition of readmittance. The EFL can then adjust their promotion and relegation rules under their existing regs .

It would make sense for the FA to be involved but its the EPL independent commission who will make the punishment decision / recommendations. It would be preferable for the commission make their punishment decision early so that any appeal can be heard at the same time as the main appeal.

At the moment its the EPLs problem and the EPL and EFL can't be seen to be colluding but if they haven't done so already, bearing in mind the case has been running for so long , the EFL might be best advised to get their regs in order so as to cover any loopholes that exist in the current regs .

If they do get relegated to league 2 then they should have a player budget assigned to them. No more then the average budget in league 2 for x number of years.
Will need to stop them being able to spend stupid money on players in the lower leagues.

However lets face it, if they get relegated they will go back up quickly i imagine. If the fans keep with them, their stadium capacity will give them plenty of money in the lower leagues.
They will get plenty of tv deals to see their "rise"

What ever happens it will impact other teams. A windfall for those teams or a year of silly transfers and wages. But after Wrexham and Birmingham id like to think other clubs would be more realistic to wages and transfer fees.

This will not be a quick decision

I read today, and it escapes me where, that Etihad, as the main sponsor of Man. City, are preparing to sue the EPL. The statement from their Chairman was "we will sue the EPL for every pound they have. They will be bankrupt."

Tie that in with the threats from the UAE and we have a situation where "the good guys" cannot possibly win.

I, ve been saying all along on this page about the financial muscle that Manchester City have making it almost impossible to enact any punishment. They will use an army of legal and political muscle to block justice.

Not sure how that is going work .

The EPL is owned and funded by the clubs so if any damages were being paid they are funded by the EPL clubs which include Man City .

However, any sanction imposed will be imposed by the independent commission but if it goes to appeal then the independent appeals committee .

The EPL only get involved in any decision making if the commission go for expulsion .

Those rules will have been voted for by the EPL clubs which include Man City .

This is what happens when you allow a foreign government to purchase a football club

It's happening accross Europe, PSG in France another example. And to be fair the Spanish government under Franco used state money to bank roll Real Madrid. That's why they won the European Cup for five consecutive years in the late fifties into the sixties. Nothing new.

Money always talks and louder the more there is. The idea that UAE is investingcin the UK as some sort of charitable exercise makers me smile… apparently City is now worth more than three billion more than when they bought it. If/when they withdraw investments from football or the silicon valley project between Oxford and Cambridge they will also lose money. You know what they say about supping with the devil….
