Lowest Ever Finish

Just out of curiosity, can anyone advise what our lowest ever finish in the League has been? I reckon this year must beat it which means, hopefully, that we've finally reached the bottom and can begin our ascent again. :scarf:
BTW, despite still being unconvinced with CF as our manager, I'd still like to say a huge well done and thanks to him and the team for their efforts in steadying the ship to safety this season - a fine achievement indeed.

On the whole.... playing budget = league position.

That's why Argyle have been a "top of league One / bottom of Championship" standard team when averaged out over history.

Argyle's lowest ever positions have been a result of off-field problems. The first time Argyle ever played in the bottom division was under McCauley's chairmanship in the mid-1990s. Until then they had NEVER EVER played in the bottom division. And the only other time is this season under total bankruptsy.

That's why Argyle's manager for next season (probably Fletcher) has a relatively easy ride. The playing budget ought to build a team capable of reaching the play-offs at the very, very least. In this league we are like Liverpool or Arsenal !!

If someone said to you ''Hamilton came 12th in the Grand Pricks at Bahrain'' you might think ''bleedy terrible'' When you get home you check who came 1st etc and notice that Hamilton came 12th driving without 3 wheels and the last one on the rims / no spoiler / half the engine not working .. you'd think ''bleedy hell that was good''

After the season end if you just glance at the tables you would think ''.. bleedy terrible'' BUT
we know better don't we !!!! We did it on only 34 games.

Message to the 'new world' aka SRG and his mery band. :funny: :funny:

Long as we don't have Manure's defence I'll be happy :funny: :funny:

Who cares that this could be our lowest ever Football League finish? Given the season we have had, to reach safety with two games to spare, is remarkable, so well done to Carl Fletcher, the players, the backroom staff and all those fans who worked like mad to help save and support the club. :scarf:

Agree with all of the above and this season will be our worst ever finish by some distance but to answer the OP question before this year our worst ever finish was in 1998-99 season under Kevin Hodges when we finished 13th in this division. We had never been so low before. It was also the season of the infamous "Jimmy Glass" game.

So 99% of the south west will be likely thinking our 'worst ever season'. 1% are thinking 'best ever', planned laps of honour and so on.

Some divide.

Worst ever finishing position, perhaps, but considering the circumstances, our best ever achievement.

It's the only season we've won two major battles.

Well chuffed yesterday and even more chuffed today.

I don't think we can ignore the success of the youth team either. It's not every season that they win their competition. :scarf:
