Despite all it's faults there are positives.
Generally entertaining attacking football with lots of goals.
Generally good refereeing. Time wasting not allowed and few injury stoppages once the supposedly injured player realises the game is not going to be stopped.
Surprisingly full stadiums and good atmosphere despite the cost.

Every tournament has their local take on how things are done. We have Samba drums and costumes in the crowd in South America, Vuvuzelas, almost child like enthusiasm in East Asia. I’m sure the Americanisms will be a distant memory after it’s all over.

Fair comment.

I was very negative about it and would have been happy to see it fall flat on its face. There have certainly been the expected negatives to the game itself, notably the un-necessary hydration breaks, but what I have seen has been very good in general.

You note the refereeing, and that has been noticably good. Hope it continues.

I agree been some good positive moments.
I like the way the REFs are allowing game to flow. Not giving a foul over a strong shoulder barge. Also not being card happy.
I like the clamp down on time wasting and goal keeper "breaks"
The stadiums do look full ish, some good atmospheres as well.
The ball seems to be causing some issues, movement of it as well.

What they could do better.
Stop hydration breaks lol
Stop the clock during hydration breaks.
Encourage fans to get back to seats quicker at HT.
Sack half the commentators lol

Of course we all know about the ticket, food, hotels and beer prices.

But over all its been positive. See how that continues once the hosts are out

He then proceeded to totally forget about the England v France game AND also completely forget there were three hosts.

We're all just being trolled at this point, right?

Okay, the football has been great at times, with a few shocks and a good deal of goals. However, far too much controversy and corruption for my liking. I won't be sad when it's all over and hopefully with the trophy on a flight to Madrid.

Think the tournament was too long. The older players, Messi, Ronaldo and Kane ran out of stream as it went on. Argentina offered nothing in the final. Could be because they had a games going to extra time and the exertions of the England and Egypt games.

Increasing to 64 teams may make the tournament longer, even if not more games per team. Hot countries hosting can be detrimental if no air con. We’ve already had ad breaks, ht shows and winners rings imposed. Please don’t increase squad sizes and substitutions. It’s not the Superbowl. It’s a world game and beautiful as it was. Stop messing it up for the sake of money.
