This lad scored another hat trick last night.

Anyone seen him play much? He seems to be on fire. πŸ”₯

Over the years we've had a few who have scored prolifically at youth level who haven't been able to translate such success to the adult game. It's a massive leap to the Championship. Whilst it's great that a youngster is doing so well, let's not clamour for promotion to the first team too quickly. Rooney, of all people, will know when he is ready for such an opportunity.

Jephcott was going to be the next Tynan according to some/many.

Tynan was before my time, but looking at wikipedia it seems he came into the argyle team mid season, helped us win promotion and then scored some vital goals to help establish the club in a higher league over the following seasons before leaving with good wishes on a free transfer.

Can't believe some people would put Jephcott in that kind of company

The trouble is once they get past 18, other than a loan to a local semi pro side which Randell aside has had limited returns over the last few years , there isn't anywhere else for them to go,

I wonder whats happening with Kieran Edworthy.

Yea he came to my mind too, along with Paul Adcock
Stewart Yetton was possibly one of the most natural goal scorers we've ever produced and his family are Argyle daft. Went on to do silly numbers at semi pro level.

He joined in 1983, played for a couple of seasons including the FA cup semi final year but his wife couldn't settle and he moved to Rotherham in 1985.Had a bust up with the management there and came back for the final 10 games of the 85/86 promotion season. Rejoined permanently in 1986 and was a very prolific scorer over the next few seasons in some of the best years of the clubs comparatively recent history. Not really sure what happened to Jephcott, he seemed to bulk out quite a bit after his early days in the first team and possibly lost a vital bit of speed off the mark, rather a sad outcome for what was a very promising career.

He's on the subs bench with Newport!

Apologies, I was making a slightly petty and sarcastic point that Jephcott had a very good career for Argyle and was an important and much underrated player in terms of his contribution to the club's recent progress. Maybe not Tynan, but 37 goals in 116 games for your local club, over three successful seasons, including a promotion along the way, is no small achievement.

He isn't a good example of youth team players that disappointed or weren't able to make the step up.
