Apologies if I have missed some discussion of this on another thread but I don’t recall seeing it anywhere…
There was a lot of discussion earlier in the year about the possibility of various overseas managers taking charge at Argyle. One of the names discussed was Jimmy Thelin who was then manager of IF Ellsborg in Denmark (which is ironically the club that Argyle transfer target Michael Baidoo plays for). In the end we appointed Rooney of course and Thelin moved to Scotland as the Aberdeen manager. I think I am right in stating that since he took over at Pittodrie Aberdeen have won every single one of the 14 games that they have played in all competitions and as pre-season friendlies scoring 39 and conceding 7. Some of their opponents have been low ranked Scottish teams in cup games but they have also won all 7 of their Scottish Premier League games so far as have (less surprisingly) Celtic. Aberdeen’s next game in in two weeks time is… away at Celtic. I wonder whether they will be able to keep their winning run going under Thelin’s guidance.
