January reinforcements

We are 8 games into the season and looking in much better shape than last season.

We’ve had a chance to see how the new additions have bedded in and where we may need to strengthen in January.

Although the summer transfer window looked a little lacklustre at first, the recruitment team seem to have done a pretty good job.
Some signings have really hit the ground running while others may need a little more time to show what they bring.

After our performances lacking that quality in the final third, is it likely we’ll go back in for Baidoo?
Are the team scouting for someone to make that LB position theirs?

Where do we think we need to strengthen and what likelihood is there of that?

I wonder if Baidoo was Morgs replacement, should he have left? Or was he an addition we were going for anyway?

Think we are OK at LB, Bali is having a good season and Galloway plays well there, Ogbeta for me is third choice.

I would say another dynamic centre mid, Rands and Gyabi can't play full throttle every game and Houghton and Forshaw don't have the engine for the role.

Centre mid is definitely the priority for me, and I assume an area that we will be looking at closely in January and the summer given that only Randell (and Roberts) are under contract for next season. Gyabi, Houghton and Forshaw will all need replacing in that period so I would expect that to start in January.
The other position for me, would be up front. With TJ supposedly now out until Jan I can see us adding another forward and Jayden Danns on loan would be the likely one for me.

Yes we only have two experienced strikers now until after Jan.

It wouldn’t totally surprise me if we look at free agents for another striker on a short term deal before going in for Danns or Gelhardt in January.
Would really like to see Danns brought in for that forward role.
Seemed as though it was all but a done deal so have to see what happens in January, certainly the type of player we need.

Gelhardt could help shore up the midfield with an extra attacking option.

I think the club will have learnt from previous mistakes and move to get that extra cover up front this time round.

Yeah Danns is the one I really want, I’m pretty sure he’s the reason we left the 5th loan spot open. I also think we’ve been more sensible with budget this season. SS pretty much blew the whole budget in the summer last season and we were scrapping around in January. I think we still have a reasonable amount left in the budget for January this season which will help. Danns on loan and a CM on a permanent would be ideal assuming we don’t lose anybody we don’t want to.

We will have to see how many players are already registered in order to plan to add to the squad.

The maximum is 25 players, we must be getting close to that.

By my maths, we have 24 registered as Roberts, Issaka, Hatch, Finn and any other youngsters don’t need to be registered

Baidoo appears to have continued to impress, scoring 3 in 6 since the transfer window shut.
