The only former Green playing for Exeter I can think of that got a hard time was Sean McCarthy with all the carthorse jibes.
There was too much respect for Barlow to give him a rough time.
Former Greens go to Exeter on their way down (& desperate for a contract) whereas we tend to pluck the better ones from them - Martin Phillips probably my favourite

I would have thought there would have been quite a possibility of him returning to Ex...r in 4,5 or 6 years. I would imagine so now!

(It did make me smile that the subtitles on his part of the press conference also refused to spell out the name of that club.)

I've always said this about Exeter as a place, massively overhyped. It's basically a village with a few nice shops, easier for people to say it's "nicer" than Plymouth, in the same way as saying Salcombe is nicer than Plymouth. Your comparing Exeter (a town with a cathedral) with Plymouth (a city without a cathedral).

I appreciate that I moved away from Plymouth 45 years ago but when was the Cathedral demolished?

I think the school yard, “Well he started it…” is pure though.
We’re (mainly,) adults on here - & plenty of us are of the mature age, shall we say. We should be better than that surely?

I don’t get to see Argyle that often, but if I heard the kind of crap like the Aberfan or Stansfield chanting, I’d have a word & ask them to stop.
I’ve done that here at football matches & at the hurling too. Though that’s hardly ever.

I've seen plenty of reprehensible behaviour from Argyle fans before. The Stansfield chanting is the one that sticks with me the most, it's one of the most disgusting bits of human behaviour I've ever witnessed and I nearly got into a scrap with an Argyle "fan" doing it.

I've seen plenty of racist chanting, particularly at Luton away, that the stewards and police pretended wasn't happening even after being alerted to it.

I guess what I mean is, there's no issue with Exeter fans as a globulous mass, any more than there's an issue with Argyle fans. There's an issue with people behaving like complete w****rs and attaching themselves to football as a way to do so.

It wasn't, but in this context only Cathedrals of the established church count towards city status. (Since WWII quite a few places without Cathedrals have been granted City status, including Plymouth)

Plymouth got it city status in 1928 and a cathedral has been in place since 1903

My favourite moment over the last few season was at their when the so called pathetic bank were given Ennis what for at a corner. We scored from it and Matty Butcher just stood in front of them I know our idiots cocked up singing about Stanno (which was very wrong) but the Chinos really take it the next level and some.

You should hear some of the chants that Tottenham supporters sing about Sol Campbell and his immediate family. They are absolutely abhorrent and, on occasions, are being sung by many thousands of supporters simultaneously.

The authorities have repeatedly warned supporters about such behaviour, but in practical terms it is extremely difficult to deal with when you have potentially 5,000 people singing the same chant in the internal corridors and concourses of the stadium. Identifying individuals and taking meaningful action in that environment is incredibly challenging
