Alex Hartridge: Plymouth defender says abuse by Exeter fans 'went too far'

Plymouth Argyle defender Alex Hartridge says some of the abuse directed at him by a section of Exeter City fans during Monday's EFL Cup first-round tie "went too far".

Really sad that some felt the need to go so low.

The perennial victims going in on Hartridge’s mum, throwing (probably) hepatitis ridden vapes at him.
Even some of the Exeter players looked disgusted.

Over the moon that he stuck it to them at the end.

Funny thing is, I still read Exeter fans attempting to take the moral high ground.

'The swore at me in the carpark in front of my ten year old. The same ten year old that had been listening to that song all night about an ex player's mum. Yeah right. The inbreds just don't seem to understand do they?

Then someone on Twitter complaining that the police abandoned them when escorting them down to the station. Perhaps they thought 'You give some, now take some'. It wouldn't surprise me.

Always the victims it seems.

Still off they pop, they can terrorise Tamworth and the like, it's their level.

Silly little club, with an even sillier fanbase.

Two things can be right though. They can have no claim on any moral high ground when they sing stuff like that and we can still be disgusted by a parent getting abuse in front of their young kid. We each have our boneheads and I’m not much into bonehead top trumps.

Always the victims. Really snide little club. The kind of snotty kid who winds others up then cries to Miss. Hopefully a nice fine to scupper whatever loan deal they had set up with Weston Super Mare

I can't stand their superiority complex. I don't even really rate Exeter as a city either. They overrate everything about themselves. Its all projection. Deep down they know they are a nothing pub side forever in our shadow so they have to create this little narrative about being more sophisticated than us.
