It's that time of year again! This is the thread for all comments about the festival past and present.

Lucky sod. Bet you didn't realise at the time.Went three or four times in the early/ mid 80's.
1985 was memorable for the complete mudbath. Another year I went it was crazy hot.
Used to love all the reggae bands back then ..Steel Pulse, Misty in Roots,Dennis Brown etc but also glad to have seen New Order, Echo & The Bunnymen, Style Council, Funboy3, The Pogues ,The Cure etc there.
Can't think of anything worse than going these days...but if I wasn't such a grumpy old git I'd be looking to see The Selecter, Nile Rodgers and Burning Spear this year. As for Kneecap... do me a favour. I'm with Johnny Rotten on them.
I did love it at the time in fairness, I think. I regret to say there was also substance misuse in that period which had consequences in the years after.. but this would have been the honeymoon years, so fun all the way.Lucky sod. Bet you didn't realise at the time.

Elephant Fayre at St Germans had some great bands in the same era and was right on the doorstep. I saw Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cure, Clint Eastwood & General Saint, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Killing Joke and The Fall there.
Also a certain Ivor Cutler came to my attention there. What a legend.
Other festivals of the same era I went to were WOMAD and Futurama, the latter being more urban.
The Futurama 3 band list was maybe the best of the lot. Amazing what there was in just two days , one band after the other. Off memory I think they let us sleep in the big venue hall between days. I was 17/18. Exciting timess

Just looked at the line up. Who is NOT there? Pretty unbelievable line up really. I'm stuck in the past, but I do like Koffee and Chronnix from more modern times. I've had a wet week in Holland / Germany this month watching my son play football, so won't be off to sunny Spain. I could kill him !Rototom this year
