There’s the moral obligation from the club but the setback effect it has on the player must be high.

just when he was hitting the highs again he gets dealt another massive blow.

I hope the club look after him both physically and mentally.

I’m sure they will.

That would be a blow and a half
Yep - massive blow to our chances this season. Our first choice "back three" have been phenomenal and arguably the biggest factor in our improvement. We're going to be short defensively until January and even if we get someone in then I doubt they'll be as good, or integrate as well as Galloway.
Massive blow for the player on a personal level as well, of course. Best wishes for a full recovery, Brendan, and if he needs the rest of the season to do it, then so be it.

What would it say about Argyle if a player we were about to offer a long term contract seriously injured themselves - while giving their all for our club - and so we just cut them loose?

Not only would that be abhorrent from a moral perspective, word would undoubtedly get around about the kind of club we are, hindering our efforts to sign players in future.

The contract offer Lowe is talking about is clearly intended to support Galloway to pay bills, keep a roof over his head and support his family if he has one at least for the initial period of his recovery. It’s money that could be spent elsewhere but won’t be a make or break sum for Argyle.

It would be absolutely appalling if we did not do this.
Spot on , there are some cold hearted souls on this site 😡

What is your plan then, realistically, if we get an injury or suspension in our back 3 now?

Where is the defensive cover at the moment? Where is the money coming from to extend Galloway’s contract AND find another League One level defender?
It seems so easy giving away the chairman’s money when it isn’t your own.

The whole point of a 6 month deal was to insure the club from a long term commitment to a player with a history of serious injuries. Within 4 months of being here Galloway has sustained another potentially serious injury.
It is plain awful for him, but it also demonstrates the reason he isn’t at Everton or Luton any more.

The whole point of giving him a short term deal is that we can look at the situation in January. And sadly for both parties, the situation has now changed. From a pre-season of confidence, good form and proving his fitness, Galloway is now back to square one.

And we need to take the 6-8 week estimated return with a pinch of salt. The estimates for Bolton, G. Cooper and Ennis have so far been way off.

As the Football Focus piece stated, this is a long term project. You seem worried about this season. We are already 99% safe from relegation. Imo we don't have a hope in hell of promotion so just chill.

As a matter of urgency we need a new left sided centre back. When Galloway starts a game our record is no defeats at all and Scarr and Grant either side look so much more comfortable. I like Gillesphey as a guy but I am afraid 83% of goals conceded when he plays come through his channel or are through indecisiveness like the first goal yesterday. With Scarr Gillesphey and Wilson we are too one paced. If this is not addressed we will unfortunately continue to struggle and the great progress we are making will be hindered. This is not a personal attack on any player but objective. Forget mayor or broom etc this is the root of all our problems
