If England finish second in their World Cup group, the round of 16 game will be at 3pm on Saturday 3 December, which is a direct clash with the Port Vale home game. (If we win our group it'll be a 7pm kick-off the following day).

The third-place playoff will be vying for the world's attention with our home game against Morecambe.
England will top that group with ease

It's because most fans want to be at home and the EFL know that the Green Army will turn up in droves no matter where we play.

Itā€™s probably more that they try to keep teams local but wonā€™t want Argyle v Exeter on Boxing Day because of the risk of trouble so look up the road to the next nearest options. The same might apply to Argyle v Gas as well. Cheltenham never play at home on NYD because it would clash with horse racing in the town which is a massive drain on the local police, so Cheltenham always get a home game on Boxing Day to balance it out. When weā€™re in the same league, thatā€™s a pretty likely Boxing Day game for us.

Well maybe one year Cheltenham should come to us on Boxing Day AND play away on New Years Day.
