I've done Meeru and Sun Island, both had very decent reefs.

You have to get one away from Male though, just to experience the sea plane, nothing like it in my book.

Bora Bora didn't have sea planes, which makes me still select the Maldives over Tahiti.

We did a seaplane in the Whitsundays which was quite cool.

Japan is absolutely amazing. Spent 2 weeks in Tokyo last year and going back next year. Incredible country.

In the last 10 years I have been very lucky to have visited Vietnam, Japan & Thailand and have to agree with Ross Japan is amazing, we stayed just over 3 weeks 2 years ago in Japan and also planning to go next year again, 7 nights are not nearly enough there is just so much to see.
We are lucky as our son is a head teacher in a school in Tokyo who is our local tour guide and managed to cram from Osaka all the way up to Sapporo for the snow sculpture competition....amazing country.
Through choice next year we will be based in Yokohama just a short train/subway ride away fro Tokyo centre.

Amazing. Definitely agree with how much there is to do. We needed another week. Could have spent a week in Shubuya alone. Disney, Tokyo Bay, Shinjuku, just an unbelievable amount to see and do. I'm trying to move things around to try and get 3 weeks in. 1 week in Tokyo, One week in Osaka and then I want to do a week in the North.

Island hopping in the Cyclades in the Agean : went To Mykonos c 1985 where I soon realised that i was 'the only non-gay in the village', and then on to Ios ,and Santorini which was then 'less discovered'.

Garden route South Africa.

Blue Mountains Jamaica great - but it's hard not to wish you're not on the beach - so commuted a bit..

My number2 grandson and his girlfriend have just returned from a holiday in Japan and can't praise it enough. He is 1.88m and 80 kg. The short video of him trying to move a wrestler at the Sumo school will haunt him forever. :)

My son is about to move to Vietnam to teach for a year or two. Hopefully Hanoi. I spent a little time there for work, went 3 times but for short periods, and loved it. If he likes it and stays we are planning to send Christmas there and go from Hanoi to Hoi An for a bit of time near the coast. Been checking hotel prices which are insanely cheap for really superb hotels.

On the downside it’ll mean he won’t be with me for the footy next year. He wasn’t in the 101 season either when he was studying in California. So maybe that’s a good portent!

Hiroshima is definitely worth 4 days, a beautiful city and obviously very interesting. Personally I prefered it to Tokyo. Not quite so manic I would suggest.

Cheers Sunny. Thats good to know. We done the whole two weeks in Tokyo last year, apart from a few days trips on the bullet train, and needed a holiday to get over the holiday. Landed at LHR on the Friday, totally exhausted. Booked a week in Turkey on the Saturday and flew out on the Sunday. Hoping to get the last of Tokyo done first this time and then spend the other two weeks sigh seeing and chilling out.

Of course Trump and Netanyahu go into Iran the week before I head off with the family to our favourite place in the world!

Luckily, booked direct flights avoiding the need to transit through the Middle East so hoping a slight detour is as bad as it gets.

Tell you what, I'm writing this from a town called Vila de Conde, just north of Porto.

I wouldn't put it in my top three but crikey it's nice here.
