Max made up a 4.5 sec gap n Leclerc when the virtual safety car came out and they should have all been doing the same 40% less speed
Did Charles slow down.. nah the Flying Dutch man didn't keep the same gap. Pushes the rules to yhe MAX

The gap was 4s when the VSC was active. When drivers are going 40% slower, the time gap will increase by 40%. This time will drop back to where it was when the cars go back to racing speeds.

They all slow down by 40% and the gap increases?
Yes. The gap is the same in distance, but as the cars are slower, it takes the second car longer to reach the timing point, increasing the time gap. That time gap will revert back to where it was once back to racing speeds.

Shame it didn't then... cos Max was closer than 4 secs after the VSC

Plus the gap would stay the same as they'd all be doing 40 slower

No, speed=distance/time therefore if speed decreases and distance remains constant, time will increase. Max was 4s behind at VSC speed, NOT racing speed.

It didn’t help that the commentary didn’t acknowledge the elongated times during VSC and also seemed to be confused as to why the gaps were bigger.

Does anyone else do the F1 Play predictor game thing? It's free and good fun. I got 5/10 questions correct this time (first two places, driver with the fastest lap, safety car appearance, and the margin between first and second to the nearest couple of seconds). If you get 10/10 you get 2 x VIP tickets to the Grand Prix of your choice, although that has only ever happened to about six people in three years I think.

Have you got a link to that?

Not sure why you'd want to go. A friend of mine was in Malaysia two years running whilst the GP was on. The first year he went to the GP, the second year he had tickets but a dodgy gut and stayed in his hotel room. He said he wasn't going to actually go to a GP again because he saw a lot more watching in his hotel.

A couple of friends went to Silverstone about 10 years ago. I was watching it on telly and partway through the race I received a text message asking why the safety car was out on track. 😂

I've been to Silvertsone once (many years ago), Monaco once, and Barcelona three times. There's the unique buzz of being there, of course, but aside from that you have a view of just one or two parts of the track at best, and scant idea of what's really going on unless one of those huge screens is conveniently placed nearby.
