I’m a proper Argyle fan and have been for many years and I don’t want Exeter to be relegated. I enjoy our local derbies more than watching a Stevenage or Wycombe. I’ve got more time for the way they try to run their club that for teams who just throw money about.
They were better than us today and we only just about deserved a draw. I just don’t get all the vitriol being spouted. If that means I’m not a proper fan then clearly I’m not.
I agree. I am all for local rivalry and local derbies and humour about Exeter but some comments about our rivals are just silly. We often boast rightly that our fans website is more grown up and better than most but why do our levels descend and become a good deal less than mature when we discuss Exeter?

Their keeper kept them in the match first half and we reverted to our early season problem of being limp after halftime.

I do still think that Cleverley struggles to get the time mentally ready for ‘big’ games.
Yes, their reserve keeper Bycroft kept them in it especially in the first half with
Argyle's 9 shots to.only 1 by
Sid James's Motley Crew !
It was only Bycroft's 3rd game of the season, originally from Southampton's Youth Team and with England under 19s !

The absent first team keeper Whitworth is
on loan from.Crystal Palace and also played for England under 19s. How do Exeter manage to find these cheap , effective signings/loans and others before from
top clubs like Brighton, Brentford etc ?!

As mentioned by others, today in midfield
Argyle really missed Kane or Ralls with their experience, composure etc.to dictate the speed of the game . But also , if fit, the tall, physical Wiredu would have been useful in central.midfield allowing Boateng to venture further upfield.
And the box-to-box energy, tackling, assists and goals of Ibrahim have been sorely missed these past few months in.midfield. When is he eventually going to return ?

Then, of course, with no Pepple starting or on the bench, I feared the worst, thinking
it would be tight. His hold-up play, strength, goals etc. were really missed.

Hope Wimbledon get a point or more midweek against Stockport and so won't be quite so desperate for points against Argyle !

Whitworth going to Exeter was part of the deal taking Harry Lee to Palace.

Mitchell was at fault for both of their goals. Big fan of his usually but today was his worst game in green.
He was a fraction of a second too slow on each occasion, but was reallg good play from their striker. The first I would say Harding was more culpable. He was slow to pressure the ball and a bit half hearted in trying to prevent the cross.

I like Harding, I think he will be a good addition if he stays and provide competition at RB and CB. He is NOT a LB. I dont criticise Tom often, even when we were crap and of course hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I just dont understand Harding getting the nod ahead of MacKenzke (unless carrying a knock or fatigued) or Galloway. There were several times in the first half that they got in behind Harding. There's an argument that his throws add an attacking threat but without Pepple and Weirdu, are we really equipped to make the most of them?

All four are must wins now, but I dont hold out much hope. Its been interesting season and I remain optimistic for next. Keeping hold of Tolaj or Pepple is crucial, we can cope with losing one but to lose both woild be a disaster.

No excuse, but it doesn't help that a good proportion of the ground are still to return to their seats. The whole start to the second half at home feels lethargic both on and off the field. My guess is it's more important that fans are spending money on pints and pasties rather than taking their seats for the start of the half....?! Shame, but that's football these days..... 😉
Most grounds pre pour some pints knowing its mad rush. Last 2 years I buy bottle of Pepsi or water for ht now lids lift on as argyle ht is chaos

Season over. At one stage we were bottom, and on New Year's Day we were where Exeter still are. Overall we have done well. As long as that STD of a football club stay in the bottom 4, then it will be a good season. Really annoying that Portsmouth won at Mboro, as it would be great to have them in L1. Based on how it's going, Leicester and Sheff Weds have the automatics sorted before it has even begun next season!
Haven't wed got another reduction due

This won’t be a popular comment and I might face a Pasoti ban but I was raised on Roy Walker saying “say what you see” …. I thought the Exeter fans were outstanding today and really contributed to an amazing Home Park atmosphere. There I said it. Roll me in flour and slap me with wet haddock.
Adam can we have a wet haddock emoji please 😂

I was watching on tv, and a lot of what I saw was via the BPE camera next to the away fans. However they sounded good.

Live at the ground the best this season were Bolton, with I think honourable mention to Mansfield.

I think they definitely contributed in them getting a result. At half time they were all in the corner hyping the team up. Reaffirmed to me the need to relocate the away end from the changing rooms.

The tunnel shouldn’t be next to the away end. You don’t want to give your opponents an edge. Their fans were roaring their players on when they went in at H/T and when they came out for the 2nd half. Ours went in and came out to a chorus of boos.

Totally agree. Put them well away from there. But, trouble is...where? In an ideal world, we are where Derby or Bristol City are now and have the resources so we can knock the Mayflower down and start again!

Agree with that simone

When we get a bit more financial muscle on board at the club, I would hope that wed be looking to loan young players out to local clubs, in the same way as we have done in the past...
when the club has been a bit more successful on the field of play ( such as the very positive sawyer and noone loans at exeter)

For that reason success of the local sides is 'win- win' in my opinion....and I include torquay, exeter, as well as truro in this ...as well as others in the lower leagues ...

As for exeter ...credit were it is due - they always seem to put out sides with interesting players in them , inspite of the clubs financial limitations

I would certainly imagine that niskanen's agent will be a busy fella, when the players contract runs out this summer, reece cole is a player I like ( signed from non league hayes) and I would be rather surprised if jayden wareham doesnt end up at a championship club, sooner rather than later

They have a nice blend of youth and experience, which has always been associated with successful Argyle sides of the past

Their youngsters in midfield- cummins and francis have already been mentioned but I also liked the look of former england u19 keeper jack Bycroft, in one of his few city appearances to date. Still only 24 Bycroft opted to sign for city when offered fresh terms at swindon last summer. He has 120+ appearances in mens football ( mostly in non league- when on loan from southampton). He looks like he might be one to keep an eye on, in the future.....

After the game I saw a young teenage girl walking up Outland Road with her parents and she was wearing a pink Exeter City hoodie. Two blokes, in their 60s, walking behind her shouting "Scummer Who*e" - Absolutely appalling

Although he delivered an absolute peach of a cross for the second goal..he was excellent in preseason and our biggest threat in the league before his injury ..he looks like he’s suffering from very low confidence..he’s got a wand of a left foot ..I haven’t quite given up on him yet
In pre-season he looked like he'd be the star signing. He's got something, but his confidence looks shot. Getting 10-20 minutes, often when things aren't going too well is not going to remedy that.

A 3 year deal says the club thought he was the real deal too. Not hopeful ATM, but redemption and a part in the future may still be possible. The next few months will be telling.
