This Test provided me with a real light bulb moment. It must be four or five years now since numbering on Test shirts became a thing. I often wondered about the random nature of the selection of numbers and offered why Joe Root wore 66. Watching the highlights the other night he was backing up at the bowler's end and suddenly dawned on me - Root 66, or as Steinbeck would say: "The Mother Road". But Brook 88 and Stokes 55, thus far I am still struggling.
