We do, sorta. Except here it's called a Child Rescue Alert and only some areas of the UK use them, its very rare.

But totally agree, things like Amber Alerts should be implemented across the UK. And as someone else said above, other countries test their Emergency Alerts each month (think it's the Netherlands), can't see it doing any harm if we did it regularly here too.

We have a Civil Defense alert system here in NZ and it works very well…if the operators are on the ball.

It’s used for tsunami - we’ve had two so far this year in the Far North and also for weather events such as the two Tropical Cyclones that we had back in January and February.

Tested in Northland every 6 months or so.

Can’t argue against it.
