Imagine you’re Wrexham trying to buy some players and you’ve just spent £100 000 on Scarr.
You are also trying to buy a player from a Crawley for £15000 but the price has now gone to £50 000 because “if you can pay £100 000 for Scarr you can pay more for our player”.
That makes sense.

Usual greed but sometimes that's business. I'm sure Crawley need every prnny they can get like all small clubs, us included. It's all about value to your club.

Good question. I've always assumed that if a significant fee was received then it wouldn't be disclosed as others may know just how bulging our back pocket may be. With smaller amounts, everybody can know as us taking in £50k wouldn't matter. However, it feels like every fee is undisclosed with us, so it could just be a blanket approach.
Transfer agreements always have a confidentiality clause in them, so the numbers that are bandied about are normally made up, a guess, or an agent/someone else close to either side not respecting the confidential nature of the agreement.

My feeling is that Foster freezing out Scarrsy from the team during his tenure contributed to his leaving us. Argyle aren't known as a 'sacking' club so as far as Scarr knew Foster was here for the duration. If Foster told him to leave, his agent would have been contacting other clubs.
The momentum began then

I wonder how long we can continue to blame Foster 😉 ?
We survived thanks to Dewey , Nance , the boys on the pitch and the rest of the coaching staff. That doesn't mean, we can't look back on Ian Foster's reign, even if it's only to remember what could have happened if Simon and the board didn't act.
New start now , let's hope the good times are back.

Some Negatives from the Foster era
- One Argyle culture deteriorated significantly
- Players frozen out of the squad
- Foster's payoff cost us a significant sum (allegedly)

Some Positives from the Foster era
- Board did a review of why it went wrong and revamped the recruitment process accordingly, getting in a new head coach who is a good man manager
- through adversity everyone pulled together, we're stronger as a squad
- One Argyle culture is back and thriving

We're back on an even keel, the good ship Mayflower is about to set sail

I’m very disappointed to see Scarr leave. He has been immense for Argyle.

Nor am I convinced that we have better central defenders than Scarr on the books. Gibson is good, but I’m not sure about Peggy- and Galloway is always injured. This Hungarian fella is untested at this level.

Thankfully we have a few weeks left of the window then, eh!

Foster doesn't carry any blame - other than changing the style of play - that the Greens had been used to ie. exciting front foot football & of course ditching our proven performers for youth (displaying bad judgement to my mind) If anything we should thank than him for the early points he amassed. Was it 3 or 6 - every point gained help keep us up. The real mistake was the squad building capability we lacked at start of last season. We should not have let so many stalwarts go until the player we required was in situ at Home Park. The likes of Wilson / Butcher / Major > Gillespie & others were off loaded. We tried to rune before we could walk in this division - we got away with it. Letting Scarr & Milar go is risky - though maybe we could not retain them - these are proven performers. Time will tell & recruitment is everything (plus luck) We seem in a better place than our first season back in the Championship & I also don't see anyone stealing Rooney & causing a panic - though he has it all to prove. Wish him well > COYG > El Tel
