Not sure you can comment Daz, if you haven't been, you don't know.

I've been to Dubai, RAK and Abu Dhabi for holidays, I know what I prefer. I can't comment on the Bahamas though.
That’s why I said I imagine. Dubai looks very fake to me and Emma has been said I wouldn’t like it. I’ll run my comments by you next time though mate. 😂

I have been to Dubai about 10 years ago and found it weird. It looked like a contest between architects as to can design the most strange building. The comparison between the haves and have nots, the old and new was strange. I liked it, wife not so much. I have been many times to the Bahamas which has, to a large extent, been sanitised in parts for American cruise ship passengers. The beaches are OK but Nassau is a bit of a mish mash where you can buy a Rolex or diamonds but the shop next door has a big bloke on a chair at the door making sure you don't steal a box of teabags.

Vegas is bleddy awful, been there twice, had to go back 2nd time because it was too windy for the Grand Canyon chopper ride on the first occasion. Both times, I had 3 days there to get some time back from 3 weeks in the Hawaiian Islands, which is the polar opposite to Vegas.

Middle East IS very neat and tidy, but it's a tad new, or rather the parts that us tourist sees.

Never done Miami, Florida etc, nor do I fancy it at all, certainly the West side of the US is quite nice and of course NYC is very interesting to visit.

Spent a total of 16 weeks in vegas with work at Nells air base. First week was ok after that was the same old rubbish. Everyrhing is designed to suck money out of you. Just utterly over the top fake and forced.
Spent 5 weeks near washington, well newport news at Langley air base. Was good. Managed to go to a few american war museums, corrected some points they seemed to get wrong. Met a few really nice people. However had to drive everywhere. They really have little concept of walking.

Cruised out of NYC, found the place just rude and way too busy. Went to Bermuda which was really nice. Great vibe and friendly people.

Cruised out of Miami as well. Some great local places to go to, again people a mix between genuinely friendly and that false american over the top friendly. Some good latino culture but very rough away from the main tourist areas.
Bahamas and mexico were 1 and done cruise wise. Just all too set up for the american cruise passengers, so lacks culture.

The southern carribean is way better, less spoilt and more friendly genuine people.

Hear so many people say this. Any friend I have who has been to Vegas, as them if they would ever go back. Flat out NO, without even thinking about it. Weird because they make it seem like a jewel in the crown that everyone MUST do if they visit America. My Nan loved NE. Mine, Boston New York, she'd always do there for 7 days and finish in Canada.

The Eastern Seaboard of the US is pretty good cruising territory too. We did US and Canada on QM2. Sailed from NY, visited Rhode Island, Portland, Boston, Halifax and Sydney, then up as far as Quebec City. We sailed over and flew back from NY. We did one Caribbean cruise out of Miami. It was only 7 nights(plus 3 in an hotel pre cruise) and it was fine. Nice little early December break. The most interesting port to us was Key West. Not overly impressed with Jamaica or Grand Cayman, though we did enjoy a submarine trip from Grand Cayman;lots to see under the water there. We feel no need to return, which really says it all.

Sounds like we have quite similar taste.

Gran Cayman and the like look far too manufactured for my taste, this Yanky 'resort beaches' look ghastly.

Just imagine being tendered it to one of the 'orrible "private islands" which lines like Royal Caribbean have!

We visited royals private island in the Bahamas and it was fine. Lots of different areas, to go to. Standard pool area, water park area, but also a quiet stunning beach area and also adults only area.
For a 1 day stop off it was nice and chilled.

Gran Cayman is so full of tourist shops and not much else, that those who live there, mostly ex-pats in the financial services industry, fly to Florida regularly to do their shopping. A friend of mine lived there for 2 years; she said she couldn't have managed any longer! She did accrue an absolute fortune, though! (She was a lawyer in the regulatory sector)

Well, are you going to book on one of the Queens for the "Four Queens meet in Liverpool" celebration, Ian? We did the 2015 "Three Queens" and it was brilliant! We are intending to pre-register for this one--pre-registration opens on 6th May. Will we see you there ,I wonder?

I enjoyed Vegas fantastic experience. Every hotel was a night out by itself, so many bars and mostly free entertainment. Was only there for 6 days, which was plenty to be fair. Doing my first real cruise in early September to Norway, see how that goes before judging cruising. Not been overly keen in the past, along with the wife to be fair. P and O apparently. Please no negativity or my misses will say " Told you so!!! ".
