Bleddy Argyle... Bleddy honesty. Why, thank you. I'm all embarrassed now.![]()
Bobby Darin kicks the proverbial... What a voice and what a groove, cracking lad!No sorry I, m not having that. Bobby Darin,s cover is fantastic.
I must say John , you have a wonderful taste in music. I've just listened to all the songs. As the title asks, in your opinion, which artists have covered original songs and produced 'better' versions?
Here are my suggestions, purely subjective, of course.
Hush - Kula Shaker (Original by Deep Purple)
Little Red Book - Love (Original by Burt Bacharach)
Hey Joe - Fever Tree (Original by Billy Roberts)
Lithium - Polyphonic Spree (Original by Nirvana)
Abba - The Cynics (Original by The Paragons)
I would say the same about anything written and sung by the Beatles.Any song performed by anyone that was originally written by and sung by Bob Dylan!!!.![]()
Haha, thanks! I'd love to join the Polyphonic SpreeI must say John , you have a wonderful taste in music. I've just listened to all the songs.
I watched Polyphonic Spree first. I'd nearly completely forgotten about them.
I giggled when I saw their cult like robes. Its not the worst cult I've ever come across mind. Have you ever spent any time with a Scientologist/s?
I've got about an hour to wear John. Please don't suggest any other songs this evening.Haha, thanks! I'd love to join the Polyphonic Spree. They do a lovely cover of The Monkees 'Porpoise Song' (written by Carole King). Although born in '83, I'm a psychedelic 60s child at heart!
Those gowns look a bit pricey...Haha, thanks! I'd love to join the Polyphonic Spree. They do a lovely cover of The Monkees 'Porpoise Song' (written by Carole King). Although born in '83, I'm a psychedelic 60s child at heart!
Yeah and I'll be about a hundred when I'm 50 years older!Haha, thanks! I'd love to join the Polyphonic Spree. They do a lovely cover of The Monkees 'Porpoise Song' (written by Carole King). Although born in '83, I'm a psychedelic 60s child at heart!
I'm off to see 'Love' at the Bristol Fleece in April. They're my favourite band I guess (aside from Kula Shaker who I love too!). I've seen Love play about 10 times now in the UK and it's always a joy. They have one remaining member from their 60s Los Angeles days and he's a great guy, always has time for a chat after gigs.Yeah and I'll be about a hundred when I'm 50 years older!
It's cool that you have eclectic tastes as it clearly serves you well bud.![]()
I didn't say that Bob Dylan didn't write brilliant songs, just that he didn't have the best voice to carry them. To suggest that Eleanor Rigby is not up there regarding it's words is for the birds. Probably one of the greatest "pop ballad, s" ever surely!!.I would say the same about anything written and sung by the Beatles.
At least Bob's words were brilliant!
