On the argyletv interview WR says TJ injury serious but waiting for more info.. haven't seen the reference to hamstring though.
That will be a real problem because we don't have a plan B striker...Hardie and Obafemi are similar but neither are big or offer an aerial threat. I suspect Freddie (when fit) will feature again... but he is similar to the other 2.

We played ok all in, against a boring but functional team.
Part of our progression I would say? Morgs really struggled, probably his worst game for us and gave the ball away so many times.
Onto Blackburn and clearly our home form is going to keep us up, if we are to stay up.
With Palsson behind him can you blame him..

Recall Waine-O?
He did score again tonight but I think he needs to be playing regularly, granted he has been sub for Mansfield, but he has been getting on more regularly than for us. He wouldn't be a plan B though if we needed to go more direct, just another of the same type. With a big man you can go longer into them and play off knock downs or lay offs... with the strikers we have you are playing to feet or in the space behind to turn the defence. A well drilled opposition with quick defenders can cut the supply off and also back themselves to cover the runs. That big man option can cut out the midfield to some degree and reduce the advantage of speed...
Always many twists and turns with players during a season.

It's a pity forshaw isn't play and pay... he was a calculated gamble last year but this season he is just an overhead. He is a shadow of the player he was, when fit...he would be one I would look to ship out in Jan and try and get some younger, more athletic types in to help out Rands... we are relying on him massively now and his star is very much on the rise but we can't burn him out.

Yeah, that’s a frustrating blow for TJ. Especially after just getting back to some fitness.

Back to bare bones in midfield too. This is the problem with our squad. Heavy on numbers, low on championship quality outside the first 13 players.
Agree with that . Outside of the 11 that started on Saturday plus Galloway and Cissoko there is little else . Nance’s comments re strength in depth doesn’t hold water .

TJ for whatever reason doesn’t seem up to the rigours of the championship/ training . Forshaw will always be a risk . Paulson and Ogbeta not good enough . Sorinola not rated by WR . Houghton , Wright and Bundu have their moments but with no consistency. That leaves the youngsters .

Could be that we've seen the last of him already in an Argyle shirt. Know it was a season loan but I imagine there's a clause for both clubs to review in January. Back to 2 fit strikers again, although still think Bundu could do a job up there for 20 minutes as required.
Let’s hope so . If it was a UK loan he’d probably go back to his home club to get fit . As it stands we’ve not seen anything like enough to make any sort of judgement re keeping him . We’ll need to sign a striker in January .

We need to stick by Morgan Whittaker. We all know how good he can be and how much of a confidence player he is. A goal is all he needs.

That many knee jerks on here tonight that it registered a 9.0 on the Richter scale. To put that into perspective, the last naturally occuring earthquake registered 7.0 😐😏

I think worse than losing tonight is hearing about injuries to players.

Whilst TJ hasn’t played much, his physical attributes would have given Argyle a different option. The last 10 mins of that Luton gave he won a few ‘cheap’ free kicks with defenders climbing over him. That helped relieve the pressure.

So tonight would be perfect for him & us. Those Burnley CB’s must of been rubbing their hands knowing Hardie can’t compete physically. Now we have two guys who need the ball into their feet.

As for Forshaw, well if you disappointed by him, get ready, because now the last man standing is Houghton. There is somebody who doesn’t have the energy to play Rooney style of football.

And this shows for all the great football we are playing, unfortunately we just a few injuries away from it having a serious impact on our team.

I really enjoy Rooney’s style, but l refuse to get carried away simply because the squad isn’t strong enough to sustain the levels of performance when we take out a few keys players.

At the moment we are just about OK with still 12-13 championship, competitive players. Tonight just showed how losing a couple of ‘fringe’ players changes the look of the squad.

It will be Rooney’s head on the block regarding the results & l think it will be unfair.

We are going to play some loverly football if the players & club keep believing in Rooney’s philosophy. The problem is trying to play an attacking style without having the resources off the bench to continue it for 90 mins like other championship teams do.

This is why Foster played the style he did. It’s why Dewsnip & Nance played their defensive style.

Let’s remember Schumacher couldn’t win away from home. Yet we played some great entertaining football under him. It just always comes back to the same thing. Money. Our lack of it means we have a bench with too many people who simply aren’t Championship standard. Sounds harsh, but this is why we get frustrated with people like Whittaker because we over rely on them.

I'm sure I heard the commentators say something about ÂŁ11M when talking about a Burnley player, not something we can compete with (assumng he wasn't a waste of money).

Jaidon Anthony was it? The left sided player. He was the guy l think scored against us at Elland Rd for Leeds.

This was my point regarding Argyle after our win.

You have to be cautious lm afraid as to what is exactly possible for Argyle this season simply because of squad depth.

Bundu came on & whilst he got involved he had no left foot which meant ever time he was cutting back and giving time for Burnley defenders to set themselves.

Wright comes on but doesn’t seem to have the same type of positional sense that Al Hajj has. Palsson l thought did ok. He may not have the pace for a full back but he does seem to know how to defensively cover his team mates. Ogbeta is just simply a guy the opposition will want to run at. He just doesn’t have that defensive composure a full back needs.

We didn’t lose tonight because we made changes. That side was still very strong. We lost because we are a soft touch defensively where we make silly challenges or don’t block enough crosses into the box. We just haven’t found that punch away from home either and that was very much the same issue Schumacher had.
Agree with much of that. Felt a missed opportunity, Burnley were dour and there for the taking. Reminded me of the first few games of the season where we had so many 'nearly' moments in the final third but lacked the end product and decision making to land a proper punch.
