Alright for some and shows what we are up against.

Bolton Wanderers have had their coffers boosted by a staggering £18 million - from their existing backers.

The League One outfit’s surge in share activity happened at the end of July but has only emerged on their accounts at Companies House.

Insiders reveal that the cash for A shares and C shares was from people already involved at Wanderers.

The club has had backing from a Swiss based group for a couple of years but this is a huge addition.

Bolton lost millions in League One over the last year or so and the cash covers that and keeps them with money at the bank.

Makes me wonder why we can not attract any investors. All well and good saying it's a long game but we've been looking for what seems an eternity.

Probably down to Simon not waiting to give up full control yet is my guess

Agreed, but no one is going to want a partial stake, invest in the club to increase the price of his shares, when he eventually decides he's had enough. I think he's being stubborn.

I agree. I get it he was a fan before he invested in the club, but right now I think he's harming the club future prospects more by being so stubborn.

Or….he wants to guard against a Todd and Co. shaped nightmare, as far as possible.
Then he needs to make a sacrifice. Tells the investor I am not willing to give uo a majority stake for the good of the club, but you will be allowed full control at the price you originally pay after £x amount of investment.

The key is in the last paragraph, although a more detailed outline would say that after falling over 160 million pounds in debt they entered administration just 6 years ago.
The new owners havent learnt their lesson and are steadily building up that debt again 3.7 million in 2022 another 5.7 million in 2023 and 5.6 million in 2024.

Taking into account a similar level of debt this year that 18 million should just about cover it.

A surge of share activity is a nice way of saying they are converting debt into shares, a bit like me triumphantly declaring my fridge is free of fatty foods and fizzy drinks because I have spent the past week eating pizzas and burgers and drinking coke.

The fridge will of course be replenished again with the same junk food next week but hey, my belly is currently supported by a fridge with a healthy outlook

The amounts may seem small and they are compared to our Championship opponents last season. Careful what you wish for, this is not investment, when you are losing 100,000 pounds a week at the casino a few pounds in the bank will not help your financial security

This is what I want to here from the owner. Not sat down saying he knows nothing about football.

Passion. Conviction. Determination.

Follow the series. Salford are where we where 5 years ago. Not doing a Wrexham. Sustainability is the goal

My views on Salford have definitely changed since watching the series. They do seem to be a real club and they are trying to grow in a sustainable, sensible way. Gary Neville & co have plenty of money to throw around, they could get Salford to the Championship in a jiffy if they wanted to, but instead they want to do things properly.

It would be the easiest thing for SH to cash in on his investment, regardless of any new investors intentions. However, If a deal looks too good to be true it usually is....

Are we continually going to assume that someone who wants to put a lot of money in into the club is bad news just because they want to own the big decisions. If so, then we have to accept we are going to slide down the leagues.

Simon has been a great owner but things (clubs) are moving on by the day and we are not. Just because Todd etc. were bad news that is not the norm. The chin strokers tell us Birmingham, Wrexham, Huddersfield, Bolton, Bournemouth will get their come-uppance. They are probably wrong in most cases.

Simon genuinely thought we were going to be a big fish in league 1. Clearly we aren't.

I think it is time for Simon to actively pursue a sale and he can enjoy just being a fan.

Depends on how you see it. Is it a cash boost or is that the underwriting of their losses? They lost £12m last season. So a £18m shares issue would wipe out those losses and put a little extra in.

The down side is what it does to the market. Throwing extra cash, getting players they cannot organically fund. Clearly they are nowhere near their £150+m losses of old - but it’s only going to work if you make it out of the division.
