I’d love us all to be wrong because Wareham is a really good player. As is Cole. But I just think he’s going further up the food chain than we are currently operating at. It would be a Coup if we did get him.

Does Cole play the same side as Dale? Anyone know.

I don't think Kelman did very well in the Championship last season, which might start putting teams off from paying big money for players that were successful at a lower standard?

The height thing for me was more about it's not just about scoring goals but also a players capability to offer an outlet up front if playing as a lone striker which many teams do these days. Tolaj is a taller player and we know he can play up front on his own or as part of a pair and I'm not sure Wareham could do that at as well as him.

All these things contribute to providing evidence on a players potential worth to another team, that's all I'm saying and I don't think I'd be happy if we paid £1.5m for Wareham personally.
agreed re kelman ,but i think there is more to warehams game than kelmans . Although kelman had a poor season , burrell and kone did ok at qpr.

I don't think we'll sign wareham , because i think both they and he will hold out for more , and if we did agree £1.5 m the add ons would probably be significant . I find it odd though that some ( not you ) think that Wareham is not worth £1.5M but that Bim is worth significantly more .

Personally , I'd rather we went for kanu from charlton .

I have to say Tom's comments today make me pretty certain Bim will be off. He effectively said "You known when I said there was no interest in Tolaj and then a few weeks later, he went? Well, me saying there is no interest in Pepple now is a bit like that...."

I didn't hear it that way . However , unless we are forced to i can't see us selling him without having made at least one signing and I think championship clubs will wait and see how he starts the season.

I'm quite sanguine about player sales in general. This time last year I'd never even heard of Bim Pepple. So if someone comes in and buys him for £2.5m plus add-ons (for example) - I see that as good business, and wish him the very best. I trust Del Boy to dip into the market for a suitable replacement. Never a good idea to get too attached to a player

He said: "I was completely honest with you when I said 'no' for Tolly, that deal happened like that, so there's no reason to say that something may not come [re Pepple], and if it's an attractive enough price then something might happen, but right now we are planning the start of the season, and the season, with the squad we have got, the players we have got."

I think that is Tom recognising Pepple is likely to go. As ever you need to read between the lines.

I also think if there was a decent chance of him staying we would not be looking for a new "no 9" we would be making a big deal of Pepple taking the no 9 as our new main man and we would be looking for a support striker.

I’d rather he left tomorrow and we get a decent chance of replacing him than a small chance of retaining him and running the risk of a last minute scurry with everyone else trying to bring in players.

I’d like for him to stay naturally but I we need to stay well clear a last day transfer window chaos.

Early deal or no deal should be the message. The asking price should increase day by day during the last week to guard against the game if transfer day Kplunk

I agree, the club should say to Pepple and his agent, that after the season starts they will not accept any bids - if he wants to go he needs to arrange to go in next 2 weeks.

Nice idea, but he had a release clause. If it is still active, which seem less clear than it was, then don't see how we can refuse bids after a certain date (unless the clause itself is worded that way).

Could Baidoo be the support striker?
