It's certainly higher than National League. The phoenix used to be my local team. But it is a very different style of football, technical not physical and I feel that is part of the reason why he's struggled.I can see why Argyle bought Waine, but it’s a huge transition from the A-League (probably National League standard) to the Championship. If Waine can get regular starts at Mansfield, he may come back a different player.
I'd agree with that. He tended to be too easy to muscle off the ball, but I think may have been working on that as I've noticed an improvement recently. Maybe more gym work over the close season? Anyway, I still like his finishing, he seems to have an eye for a goal, and hope the season away does him good. It's certainly higher than National League. The phoenix used to be my local team. If he has a partner up front in league one I think hell get 8 to 10 goals. He's scored against some difficult teams. That's very optimistic
The goal was, in my opinion Whittaker-esqueGood goal that as well. He looked massively relieved I would say. Hopefully the catalyst for him to push on. Well done Waino
real shame about ben,i wanted him to be a big success but clearly he is not up to english football standard and interestingly the other antipodean we were after, sammy silvera,is also no great shakes. It's not really working out for Ben Waine at Mansfield, he was an 87th minute sub yesterday and so far has made 17 appearances but only five of them have been starts and three of those were in cup competitions. He's scored one league goal and FA Cup goal.
He's in a bit of a pickle because he's already played for us this season so he can't play for a third club meaning we can't recall him in January and send him out to another club.
We could recall him and he plays for us but that's doubtful if he's not getting into the Mansfield team.
