Just thought it worth reminding everyone of that astonishing 'Earth Rise' photo taken by Apollo 8 in 1968.

We had never seen anything like it before and could not have imagined it. A beautiful blue-white marble in the pitch dark of space illuminated the way we normally see the Moon.... but the foreground IS the Moon and the marble is our home. The place where all human History and all life on Earth had evolved for the previous 4 billion years.... and yet, now, here WE were ... human beings seeing this for the first time. I mean that over-used word 'iconic' doesnt do it justice. I mean .... WOW just WOW !!

It's no wonder why space monkeys keep an eye on us. Our planet is mesmerising!

Let's not destroy it.

The Artemis II crew has broken the record for the furthest distance humans have travelled from Earth.

The record was previously set by the Apollo 13 crew in 1970 - the crew travelled 248,655 miles from Earth.

Artemis II will beat this record by about 4,102 miles, reaching a maximum distance of 252,757 miles.

Whilst its a great achievement, well done all and safe trip home..i do feel for all the crap flying around in space left there by mankind. As well as all the non reusable still landing in the sea. Great to push the boundries but still we are such a wasteful species.

I wouldn’t worry too much, it’s a pretty big place!
Crap in Earth’s orbit is a different story.

THAT IS INCREDIBLE.

Tonight of all nights, when a F****g deranged maniac is threatening to commit war crimes on planet Earth .... THIS shows just what humans are capable of.

There is hope for our species .... surely?

I’ve got to admit I don’t find stuff like this fascinating but I did enjoy the photos

Don't personally feel the need to watch any of it live but I do love all this 💩

All far too bohemian for me but I even ventured through 'man bun land' to go to Tom Hanks 360° Apollo moon landing 'experience' at The Light box at Camden Lock a couple of years back.

Proper trippy mind blowing stuff 🤯

My little Artimis moment came earlier in the week. Got up early to walk the Granddog, dawn had just broken and over the sea off to the low south west horizon the moon was still out.

Soundtrack album of choice for this walk? Dark Side of the Moon of course!.

I was too young to know or care when it last happened but to look up at the moon and know there were humans on the other side of it... goosebumps!
