Sometimes Oldage you get an instinctive feeling about someone, and I have it with this lad. He clearly has something about him, which Cleverley sees himself. Of course it is high risk in terms of historic injuries but also low risk in some ways, especially if you can sell him on for a good price.

It’s also out of character for me to feel this way about this type of potential signing, but instinctively I feel we have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I sincerely hope you are right. After the last couple of seasons we could do with something going our way for a change🤞🏻

It’s no bigger risk than the club took when they appointed Rooney . Cleverley very clearly wants him . It’s a different type , but no real difference to the risk we’ve taken on some of the players we’ve signed in the 12 months .
Hopefully much less of a risk, bearing in mind how that one turned out. At least Benarous won't get us relegated if it doesn't work out.

I must admit the way Cleverley spoke about him gets me intrigued.

However, he will probably have other offers and lm not going to get too excited about him until he signs because there is obviously a player that could wet the appetite of other clubs
Can’t see him getting other offers until he has trained with them for at least a week and had a medical examination and by doing that probably cutting his ties with Argyle, risky game to play when a contract is on the table.

This for me.

Maybe I’m naive but he’s not played for over 2 years.

Yes he might be fit now but that is a long, LONG time in the world of football with an injury that is synonymous with the scrap heap.

It’s sad of course. Of course I hope for his sakes he’s back and fully fit, no one wants to see a talented young players career ended through injury.

I think if he goes to Austria , he ‘s signed / signing . If he’s not , why go - no point in doing the team bonding stuff .

Expect he will sign. We're only 90 minutes away from his home, family and friends. Lots of new young players coming in, we are a great opportunity for him to kick-start his career.
100%, he's not going to get a better opportunity, and it's a good fit for both parties. His ability is not in question, if he's past his injury problems, he could become an absolute diamond for us

He'll sign, be amazing and get poached by a Championship club for peanut in Jan. Then some on here will moan we didn't offer him a longer contract or more money......
Er, well if he's under contract the amount of his weekly wage will make zero difference to his transfer value. And if its a contract beyond 12 month's, Argyle would call the shots in terms of the fee.

Not according to LC, he’ll be along in a minute😉. And to be honest I think he has a fair point seeing a correlation between what a club want to pay a player and what they want as a transfer fee. I don’t think the correlation is as statistically significant as he suggests, but I agree there is some linkage.

Yes, fair comment. The point I was trying to make is that it would be a completely different scenario to the club having their hand forced by an expiring contract or relegation release clause.

Also a fair point 😉 And, I do agree with a player like this, just coming off a serious injury, their salary is likely to be a lot lower than their potential transfer price. It is a gamble for both player and club.
