Gold is not green, or black, or white, so I don't like it...
Ordinarily I'd be saluting that.

But that is a black shirt, the gold aspects are extremely minimal. Exchange the gold for white, an Argyle colour, and what it'd gain in authenticity it'd lose in classiness. It'd look very cheap.

Clearly we will be a ‘Black Army’ when we are away, and I would much prefer to be in a Green Army wherever we are. But I suppose I am just another grumpy old supporter. I will be happy though if our home shirt is in 1950s Green!

I agree with your 2nd paragraph Rochdale, but I was responding to the opening line, which I disagree with. It's a black shirt, and black is an Argyle colour which makes it kosher.

Yes, we of all clubs should have no need at all for an away kit.

But that arguement was lost somewhere in the early 1980's. Forty years later they are a fact of life, a commercial positive for the club and a second (spoiler alert, there'll also be a third) chance for fans who think the home kit is glopping to have something they like.

Thanks for the clarification X Isle, but anyone who finds an Argyle Green home shirt to be "glopping" [whatever that means] is not a supporter of PAFC.

Are you speaking to us on a delayed line from the 1950's tonight?

You don't know what a grower & a shower means.

You don't know what gopping means.

You want us handcuffed to one shirt and one shirt only, for all occasions.

Well speaking as you are from a grey and depressing post war Britain I'm afraid you don't get to decide 21st century worthiness old pal. Where you're calling in from the Suez Crisis hasn't even happened yet, let alone the moon landings... oops, sorry to spoil that for you 😬

Times have changed, get with them or hang up the call and go back to your 50's life.

The background print is an homage to Charles Church, which stands as a memorial to the citizens of Plymouth who lost their lives in air-raids on the city during World War II.
Other than the official site stating that, is it explained anywhere what the print is actually supposed to represent. It’s hard to distinguish and looks a bit like the emblems of the four home nations. Is it supposed to be based on stained glass windows, which presumably none of us have ever seen, as we have only passed a bombed out church standing as a monument?

If the black and gold represent Cornwall, a motif of the Tamar Bridges would have made more sense.

Regardless of whatever colour it is and what embellishments it has at the end of the day it’s just a shirt, if anyone spends the 90 minutes of the game looking at that and not the action then I have to say they’re not really experiencing the match day experience

Gold is not green, or black, or white, so I don't like it.
My main concern, however, is that there is no need for an away shirt. In my lifetime, I have seen Argyle away many more times than at Home Park and anything that departs from Argyle Green on the shirt minimises the impact of the away support. When you look at Ireland or Celtic away there is a sea of green that is so impressive. The same can't be said for Argyle away games, where there are abominations of yellow , gold, purple , orange, or anything else. We call ourselves the Green Army, but too often, when we play away, we are, most certainly, not a green collective. We thereby forfeit the advantage of our unique shirt colour.
Personally have never bought an away shirt with any colour other than green, black or white on, so very much appreciate where you're coming from, but I think we're probably in the minority.

Truly awful shirt, don’t understand the colour scheme.
Surely the purpose of an away kit, is to play in a different colour if their home kit clashes
with our green, but as it is (two dark)colours 1 - green, 2 - black, we are not going to use it very often, therefore the third kit has to be very light in colour.
