Truro were in the same league last season that Torquay were when Randell went there. Roberts was never going to be good enough for another L1 team, a slight centre mid I doubt was particularly high up a L2 side's shopping list, so that left a National League team which most would say is a very competitive division.

Truro were scrapping for survival though. Not the ideal environment for a technical 20yo to walk into.

Both Roberts and Issaka received rubbish loans last season, not sure whether that was Argyle’s fault or because nobody really wanted them.

I don’t understand why Roberts didn’t go out on loan last season. And I mean properly. AKA a season long loan, somewhere competitive, not Truro. Randell earned his stripes at Torquay, that’s where he got to grips with the men’s game.

I think we missed the boat with Roberts abd Issaka. Both were kept as occasional performers and benxh warmers in the Championship. Those 2 years they could have been loaned out to non-league clubs which could have then stepped up incrementally.
Perhaps Tavi or Parkway, then once they have proved themselves, Truro, Torquay or Yeovil.
It's what big teams do, Villa did it with Azaz. Two loans in League 2 with Newport and Cheltenham, then us in League 1, then us in the Champ.
Slowly up the level and see where a players ceiling might be.

Tavistock are in the western league playing the likes of Ivybridge Saltash and Liskeard no were near the standard we should looking at for our players, they are both around 20 age wise they should be be in at least league 2 or national league premier, which they were last season, issaka went to Bristol rovers didn't work well, Roberts went to Truro who were relegated, I'm afraid it shows what level the club thinks they are at, which shows how bad their careers have been managed at argyle

All very well saying 'they have been badly managed' and 'we should have loaned them out to xyz'.
Assumes that xyz:
(a) actually want that type of player, and
(b) are prepared to take them on and do our development for us.
Evidence suggests that both of those are mostly not the case.

To me it’s not so much “development” that a loan player needs, it’s game time. Roberts would get game time in a L2 club, same for Issaka, in my view. Although I’d be happiest if they both stay with us. Three or four injuries as per last season, and we’ll need them again!

Just to balance this slightly - the reports I heard from Truro supporters were that Caleb was a level above in what was clearly a struggling team

Two things from that:
1) That Dundee FC badge is very cool
2) Parking for motorhomes on the Dundee waterfront is almost impossible. As we found out recently.
