You could argue ONE of the reasons we were fighting relegation was Hardie's lack of goals in first half of season and away from home. And his inability to hold the ball up.
Always a ridiculous decision though to play him up front on his own. Just didn't suit his skill set. Another poor decision by Rooney rectified under Muslic.
I felt immensely sorry for Hardie in away games in the first half
of last season. He had to spend the entire game running around like the
proverbial blue-arsed fly, with absolutely no service. He must have felt like
chucking it all in at times.

There are no guarantees and as we have consistently failed to sign a decent striker I have little confidence this will change. We also need the defenders and midfielders to contribute to the goal tally.
Oldage do you have anything positive to say i think Argyle could sign Haaland and Salah and you would moan, I for 1 after 60 years of support are excited for this season ps to clarify I'm deffo not a green tint.

The way in which rumarn shows for the ball and goes looking for it ( which is showcased in the highlights of jamaica v trinidad played at brentford) - puts me in mind of barry hayles ( and not just because they were both jamaican international players)

His goalscoring , from age 21, at both Falkirk and cove rangers, prior to his move to Burton, suggests that hes likely to be a regular goalscorer- at what level we dont yet know- but I'd guess that hes headed beyond efl1 in the years ahead.

I would hope the rumours of Argyles interest are true....I reckon hed be a sound ( if expensive) investment....
Yes, unlike Argyle's new signings in attack, Rumarn Burrell has been a regular goalcorer in EFL and Scottish league teams .

Last season in League 1, although
Burton Albion were always struggling , Burrell managed to score 11 goals and made several assists including :
- 2 goals home to Huddersfield and an assist away to them ,
- 2 goals home to Reading ,
- 1 goal at home to Wigan and another goal away to them,
- 1 goal home to Blackpool,
- 1 goal home to Orient .

With better players in Green around him, Rumarn could surely score even more and become a 20-goal striker !

Here we go again! I was being positive about Hardie and haven’t got a clue why you mention Haaland and Salah. I am only “ moaning “ at what I perceive to be the quality of striker we have recruited so far. I am glad you are excited but I am not going to change my viewpoint to suit you. We all see things differently. Hopefully when we sign another striker as promised I will be more optimistic but at the moment I don’t see us tearing up trees

I’m in no way knocking what Hardie has done for us over the years.
He came in and did what he did which I’m massively grateful for.

He wasn’t a proven goalscorer or even thought of very highly by his previous clubs when he came but it’s what he became when with us.

My point is there will be others who will come through and provide goals, become better players under us and hopefully become fan favourites.

100% we will miss Hardie, of course we will, but that’s not to say one of the new lads or ones still to come can’t turn out to be our next talisman.

He could be , but we haven’t signed him yet . It would though be disappointing to see him sign for another L1 club .

He was highly-rated when he signed for Blackpool, who paid a decent fee for him.

He'd already represented Scotland at U21 level, and he'd scored a lot of goals in Scotland at a very young age, so the potential was clearly there.

Grayson didn't fancy him as a starter early in that first season at Blackpool, and Lowe took advantage, sorting out a loan and offering him the chance of a crucial role in a side looking for promotion.

My view has been tainted by recent events and the failure to sign a decent striker for over 2 years. I am ,like all fans ,hoping that at least one of our new players will know where the net is but last season in particular when we struggled for goals the club could not get anybody in despite the fact it should have been a top priority. It’s all well and good trying but somebody at some stage has to grasp the nettle and realise we cannot mount a promotion push without players to score goals
