Like many others I assumed selling Tolaj early would be helpful however it now seems that we have last season's striker search all over again. And while that turned ok I think the L2 pot is a little more bare 12 months on.

Mellon seems to be last years Burrell/Taylor and all seems to have gone quiet on whoever we bid twice for. Wareham looks out of our range unless Exeter become really desperate and lower their price as the window edges closer to shut.

Whilst I was hopefully of a decent start, we may find early wins difficult to come by until the reinforcements arrive which is such a shame given the squad looks pretty decent until you get to the attacking positions.
These are exactly the vibes I'm getting...

Proven? How is he a proven goal scorer in League 1? I’ve said it before and still stand by it he won’t come here
We are talking about Wareham, right? 20 goals last season, how much 'proven' do you need?

But I agree with you, don't think we will get him, Exeter will look at the Tolaj and Ballard sales and will want at least 2m and we aren't going to pay that.

But in his past two seasons in League 1 he scored 5 goals so all in all 25 goals in 3 season…………….. Not really proven

To answer that, perhaps you should define what you mean by "proven". Does Tolaj not meet you criterion?

Tolaj after one season? No I don’t and won’t class Wareham with being proven 25 goals in 3 seasons in league 1, be different if it was at least double the figure

Not sure there are many in league 1 will you may get a Pompey or Charlton in Championship but not sure they even want to pay those fees

OK. As Bryan T wrote, depends on your definition of proven.
On that basis neither was Tolaj and he went for 4m.

Anyone scoring double figures in more than one season probably isn't staying long in L1.

Funnily enough , if you look at Transfermkt this year is different from a numbers perspective. From Tolaj's year , there are only 3 forwards aged 25 or under who scored over 10 goals : Tolaj and Rob Streeter who went to Lincoln ( and did well ) and Nathan Lowe ( on loan ).

Last season Kabia , Kanu ,Cavegn and Dennis and Lisbie .Had Mellon not been injured on boxing day , he'd have been a sixth .Tezgel ( on loan at Wycombe ) would have been a 7th barring injury .

Reading paid £700k + for Lisbie so you'd have thought that's the starting point .

Guys, forget Wareham. We were never trying to sign him. Our plans will almost certainly change now as well, with our need to bring in another creative attacker/winger on top of a striker. Adams will be desperately trying to unearth another 30k Curtis from somewhere. Our business will almost certainly go down to the final week of the window now. Let's hope the players we currently have can keep us competitive until we have thoroughly reinforced our squad. I wouldn't mind seeing Amaechi on the right and Curtis on the left, so they can cut in on their stronger foot.
