Kevin Hodges picked up Barrington Belgrave (Norwich) and Ian Stonebridge (Spurs) and possibly Adam Barrett(?) at an exit trials type event in 1999. Kevin Hodges can't have had much budget to work with back then.

It didn't really work out for Barrington, but Stonebridge had real ability. So did Barrett, who Sturrock surprisingly let go, but we were fairly well stocked with central defenders at the time - Craig Taylor, Paul Wotton, Mick Heathcote.

At least they got a chance for a career in football. Poor Richard Flash and John Hodges barely kicked a ball in anger for Argyle before suffering career ending injuries.

So while Ballard's sale does make the Wareham move more imminent I actually think its because Orient is where he'll likely move to. He's a much better fit for a Ballard shaped hole than a Tolaj one.

Sorry. Does anybody else get a feeling of 'If only'/'What might have been' had we gone up in the play offs? We could have kept Tolaj and bought this bloke, Ballard. What a line up then!!! Anyway...all pie in the sky. We didn't go up, and now we are looking at the change in our and pocket and waiting to see what's left on the table and whether we can still afford it.

Where would we have got the money to buy Ballard?

No way will Orient look to sign Wareham. More likely they'll look to sign one or both of Kanu and Olaofe from Charlton or Scarlett from Spurs .
