Went to Germany last June. My German workmate ( raised in Scotland so sounds Scottish) is an archetypal German. Incredibly organised, ridiculously punctual and a stickler for ze rules. It has it's strengths, but I think he knows its a disease too.
Anyway - he told me 'you won't find any weed infested roads / driveways like this out there' - like where we were working.
Well , in reality it was often looking every bit as bad as the UK. Germany has hit serious decline I reckon, which I think he also sadly acknowledges now too.
Thankfully his formative years in Scotland gave him a great sense of humour , otherwise we wouldn't be joking about much !

Besides the obvious, modern Germany is just like the U.K. but without the wider contributions to music, fashion, culture etc. I am also not a fan of European football culture either.

I did enjoy Berlin and Cologne when I visited though. Not so much Hamburg. Also crap food and great beer.
Completely disagree with your first paragraph. Some brilliant music has come out Germany, for example.
What is 'the obvious'?

Hamburg is a lovely city and hard to beat a currywurst mit pommes!!!

I tried not to bite but really ......

Without stopping to really think, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Bach, Brahms, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Amon Duul knocked out the odd tune.

Brecht, Mann, Goethe, Herman Hesse, Grimm brothers, Gunter Grass managed to write the odd book / play

In engineering many German firms - Siemens, Bosch, VAG, Mercedes- are regarded as being amongst the best in the world.

The main difference between German and British influence across the world is the English language. Simple as. That will always favour British influence regardless of the quality of the products.
