Andre Gray

I haven't read all this thread so it may have been mentioned. From what i have see of Andre Gray, he looks to have what Rooney was saying we are missing and that i completely agree with. That's a really good understanding of the dark arts of the game, he is streetwise and obviously knows what's needed of him in the Championship. Positioning his body, holding off defenders, when to drop off, when to make runs etc. Perhaps technically, shooting etc he isn't any better than say Hardie, but its the previously mentioned attributes that we are short of and that's what stands out when he has come on. The question is can he give us that and goals, 75 mins on the pitch, etc. If he could do it all then i doubt he'd be playing for us.....
I would agree with most of what you state.
My one concern with him playing as our lone striker would be is ability to move as from what we saw on Saturday his pace is more inclined to that of a carthorse then a sprinter.
But playing him alongside a front runner like He was on Saturday when Hardie could make the runs so as to create the space works well

It is very early days to trump Gray as the Messiah. Age and fitness indicates to me that he will be a bit part player but a very useful one at that until January. Should he perform exceedingly well than I guess he will move somewhere else in January.

Never thought I'd see the words 'trump' and 'the Messiah' in the same sentance!

Unless there is an agreement to extend his contract beyond December. I'm afraid if he starts playing well for Argyle the clubs with bigger pockets will be sniffing around.
Alternatively, he may really enjoy playing for Argyle & Rooney, and commit to us after the opportunity we've given him. Can't imagine too many clubs will see him as an option, especially a long-term one, given he's 33.

When he did a Q&A item on Argyle TV, he was asked who his idol was growing up. The answer he gave was our manager

you make a fair point but starting him at leeds he would be knackered after about 1/2 an hour in my opinion, not fit enough to start matches until he sheds a couple of stone.

If Andre Gray could last 45 then 15 mins you could bring on pace in Hardie and Obefemi for the last 30 mins.

Pedigree, nous & probably anticipates where the ball will be before the defender marking him has chance to act
He maybe 33 but he is our player until January
Hopefully he will be able to dig us out of trouble in games that are going away from us
Pleased we signed him as we never had a wily old fox in the box last season
The points he accumulates for us whilst with us could be vital come the end of the season
