I don’t, name me a club that never makes a bad signing. All decisions at the time are based on the facts you have and you think you’re making good ones, unfortunately you can’t control outcomes.

This is a sports forum, so we of course will be quick to judge :).
My immediate thought was Melchester Rovers, Mat, but I admit that I have not kept up to date with them for a good few years...;)

One certain positive is that he can offer to navigate the team coach to Truro City's ground for the pre-season friendly!
When he played for Truro they played at Treyew Road, so he had better leave the navigation to the Argyle coach drivers as they went to the new ground last year.

Troll alert ‼️
I'll admit to being completely peeved and totally disillusioned with Argyle currently due to the events of this week.

I'll take the point there there is another thread for that. But equally it annoys that the horrendousness of that incident is just gunna be swept under the carpet by many on here as "oh well, how sad, never mind".

So... yes, I'll admit that the original post from me on this thread is a little bit 'trolly'.
But given the backdrop with which it has been annoucement, very much like their post about celebrating Pride month (genius move that!) this feels insensitive and almost an attempt to deflect attention.

It annoys everyone when politicians do it... clearly doesnt hit the same when the green tinted glasses are on.

So, a genuine response - not trolling.... does Alex Hartridge fill me with joy and optimism? No not really. Its a fairly bang average signing for a L1 side.
Its not trolling to say he played for a pee-poor Burton side and hasnt played at anywhere higher in his career.
Hopefully he'll be ok - but i'm not expecting great things.

And before people mention all the players who came from poor teams who turned out good, dont... cos there is an equal number of players who came from good teams who turned out rubbish!

So the club has to stop because of the funding cut to the women's team? The whole point of the club is the mens 1st team, I'd be even more peeved and disillusioned if they weren't getting on with transfer targets and bringing players in for the 1st team because some supporters don't think its the right thing to do at the minute.

As for Alex Hartridge, I think it's a clever signing rather than standout. You say he played for a pee poor Burton team. A Burton team that conceded less than us last season. Will he be 1st name on the team sheet, I doubt it. Will he be a good addition to the squad that adds experience and depth that we need, absolutely.

No, the club doesnt have to stop... but it should be accountable for its actions and own the decisions its making.
Currently it is doing neither of those things.

And saying the whole point of the club is the mens 1st team is a notion stuck in the 1960s.

Burton may have conceeded less than us... but we were pee-poor for half a season too! So its not much of a feather in the cap!

It's not really though is it because if we didn't have a mens 1st team there would be no club so no academy, no women's team. If the city wanted a major women's team it wouldn't be part of Plymouth Argyle if there was no mens 1st team.

As for accountable for it's actions, what cutting budget? The same as the majority are expecting the 1st team budget to cut to less than last season? Will you be outraged at that? Or do mean players at the end of contracts being released, like Galloway, Ashby-Hammond, Benarous, are you outraged at that aswell? The club is getting on with what it needs to do as a business. That's sign players to make the squad as competitive as possible.
