Saw him score one of the goals which ended Millwall's 59 game unbeaten home record and led to much trouble after the game. Didn't seem to get much of a chance at Argyle and went back to Exeter where he was much revered.RIP Alan.
A Grecian legend but played well when I saw him in green.

Only 20 appearances 1966/7 with 5 goals. I recall him as a workmanlike inside forward, not tall, and dark haired.
In those days he would have competed with Mike Bickle and Norman Piper in order to get on the score sheet.

Alan Banks played 8 games for Liverpool and scored an impressive 6 times. 5 of those appearances and 4 of the goals were scored under Bll Shankly. The last of his goals was at Anfield, on the eve of the 1961 Grand National, against a certain Plymouth Argyle. Not long afterwards Liverpool signed Ian St John and Alan eventually moved on. Remembered by his team mates as an amiable and pleasant man.
