We recently had a month in France and flew from Auckland to Paris with Malaysia and Oman Air and yes, we are both old buggers and we need the beds!
I mean, if you're going to do a long haul flight, you might as well make it the longest on the planet!
Auckland to Kuala Lumpur was an A330. Very comfortable, great beds. Didn't really bother with the food as we left AKL at 0030, so we slept.
KL to Muscat (Oman Air) was the next leg (after 2.5 hours in KL) and in the Suites. The aircraft was a B787 Dreamliner and again, ridiculously comfortable. The OA Suites are certainly on a par with Qatar Suites.
Muscat to Paris (CDG) was the last leg and again in a B787 Dreamliner with Suites.
Total air time, about 25 hours, with about 5 hours on the ground.
Return legs were identical to the inbound.
Now here's the deal. Qatar wanted just shy of $14,000 each, Emirates $17,000 each and Singapore, a whopping great $23,000 each. Skyscanner is your flight friend! Our route? $7400 each.
We will certainly fly this route again.
