It was a while back but Air New Zealand was great for transatlantic....used them for trips to Los Angeles when I worked in the games business.

Flew to BVI in a hurrcy bird refueling in the adores and home from Cyprus. Yeah and only rotten sandwiches to eat
I have had the dubious pleasure of a Crab Air Hercklebomber flight twice! The first time was from Perth (Western Australia) to Brize Norton. It took us 5 days from memory and we stopped overnight at Darwin, Singapore, Bombay (as it was then), Bahrain and Brize - with a splash and dash in Cyprus.

The second time was a positive jolly! Gib to St Mawgan. We took off from Gib and got to 5000 feet but the rear door wasn't shut properly, so they just opened the damned thing, and with harnesses on, half a dozen crabfats jumped up and down on it! The Skipper apologised once we had climbed to cruising altitude with the comment "Good afternoon gentlemen. We are now successfully flying at 20,000 rivets." :)

Also had the pleasure of a VC10 from Brize to Singapore via Muharraq (Bahrain) in 71. Lovely flight. Only 8 of us on the plane! :)

I agree, flew to Tahiti in a business class small cabin compartment. Very very impressive.

I think my favourite is Singapore though. Not a lover of the Country but the airline is wonderful.

Positive shout for BA - flew premium economy to Kenya last year. I'm over 6 ft and was comfortable. Food was nice, service excellent and good choice of movies on the individual TVs in front.

BA cabin service has over the last couple of years in my opinion gone right downhill, 3 years ago we flew from Heathrow to Haneda in Tokyo and the service was amazing in both directions....half empty aircraft in both directions and advised sit where we wanted once airborne as long as still in same class, and all of the food was very good.
3 years later last December we flew Glasgow - London City/Gatwick - Orlando and the returned Orlando - Gatwick/London City - Edinburgh what a difference the food was very poor in both directions. A light meal Gatwick - Orlando just after take off with a chicken slice as the mid service meal with no other options ,the same again on the return with a wrap as the breakfast option soft drinks were poured from a bottle and not cans or mini bottles so you could drink when you wanted and not call for service .
As the flights only cost my wife and myself £300 in total for the full return flights using Avios (airmails) points can't complain to much....although if I was a full paying customer I probably would of made a complaint.
Worst flight I had in recent years would be with Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong as the most uncomfy seat on a flight with no legroom and not the best inflight service and the best Thai Aways to Bangkok nothing was too much for the cabin crew great with in-flight meals.

Got the delights of a tui flight on monday to Egypt, will see how it goes lol.
A Dreamliner flight to Mexico with TUI in PE was one of the comfiest I’ve done.
We don’t normally do packages but the kids were young.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her family happened to be sitting behind us on that flight.

It's only a little nip though isn't it? :)

When I was earning very good money, I used to 'bed it' all over the world BUT we always planned to do the short haul stuff when you cram yourself into cattle class. I reckon we got it dead right.

Even a fat sod like me can jam myself for a trip to the Med for example. :)

Done Egypt many times, Sharm (4 times, rough as rats but brilliant diving and snorkelling) Hurghada, a bit more up market, again brilliant under water.

My favourite though was a couple of live boards we did, really great diving, even went as far as The Yemen, bugger if I'd do that in this climate nowadays.

In Mexico a couple of years back we flew a few domestic flights with Volaris.

A discount airline but with super efficient self check in, reasonable leg room, efficient and timely boarding and arrival - and (yes) you pay for food and drink on board but hey!

Mexijan may have an opinion on Volaris.

Yep good value airline you can upgrade for a few extra bucks and honestly compared yo UK budget airlines they are far superior. Register before hand and they do some stupid cheap deals too.

Off reply

Sorry but BA sucks, AA, Delta too. As a few have said most middle eastern airlines are pretty good, Air China is excellent and Air Canada had the best smoked salmon starter I have ever tasted, on or off a plane, Based on business class.
