Having lived in the USA(Texas) with an American wife, I have seen at first hand the inadequacies of the US immigration system which is broken due to brutal facilities, lack of finance and ill-trained staff. I know that the media use pictures of crying little kids, but look at the people guarding them, mainly males weighing in over 15 stone carrying guns, pepper sprays, handcuffs etc and very willing to use them. Little girl you better cry because it is your only defence from the God-fearing right, that inhabits the southern border.

What is happening with the immigration service is symbolic of the decline in transport infrastructure, environmental responsibility, health provision, industrial decline and moral and political attitudes throughout the US. With both houses of Congress split fairly evenly and a person of low intelligence in the White House, there are no major pieces of legislation being passed into law. The premise of the Constitution was for a balanced system of checks and balances, but to work you have to have people who can work together.

Indeed the example you outline of wanting services / monies without integrating is something at on the face of it effects a lot of countries. Thing is large swathes come and work, maybe they do not integrate but in some UK councils (only going on the ones I’ve lived in) are willing to put up with as opposed to address the issues division through non integration brings.

What’s even funnier, is several brits - ones with profiles - have been accused of xenophobia, racism or other such abuses for asking for exactly that. Some integration.

Go wherever to better your life, offer better to your children and work, and pay taxes and speak / learn the local language and offer something to the community. Help the local school, faith hall (of whatever religion your practice). But be part of the local community you are looking to join rather then fracture it

There's been two excellent Trump related documentaries recently on TV that are well worth a watch.

On Sunday on BBC2 there was a documentary on Trump's first 100 days in office and how the New York Times reported on his administration. There are another three episodes to follow.

And last night Channel 4 showed Inside the American Embassy in London which is about the first six months in office of the new ambassador who, as a close friend of Trump, was handpicked by Trump.

And the Handmaid's Tale which is another documentary about Trump's Presidential style. ;)

A cracking day if you're a political watcher.

Trump did his usual - throwing a curveball to set the agenda before visiting a country/summit/NATO/G8, this time The Sun gave him the air space to peddle his controversial views before visiting the UK.

I keep hearing and reading the phrase 'controversial views'. Some of them are blunt and not particularly diplomatic but I apply caution whenever the BBC labels something 'controversial'. What I think this means is that they disagree and want everyone else to disagree too. Control of borders, for example, is something that most people expect a country to do and is a completely normal viewpoint. Some of what I heard on the Today programme this week could only be described as hysterical.

His announced views change every day depending on what will go down best with his mid USA bible belt folllowers . He is still on the campaign trail being so insecure.
Putin meeting will be interestIng as he will run rings round Trump. Massage his ego and you are a friend as May has had to do and as for the meeting w with the queen I find it embarrassing.

Agreed the meeting with the Queen, was a total embarrassment for the country, you noticed only the Queen, turned out, and all the other Royals, had ‘something else to do’, felt really sorry for the Queen, to meet THAT person.

To the question "does Russia have any compromising information on Trump" he says he didn't know Trump was in Russia. So didn't deny it at all.
Trump has once again shown himself to be a complete idiot.

He has even embarrassed his OWN country’s intelligence agencies, to the point that he believed Putin in a 4 hour meeting, rather than numerous reports from HIS intelligence agencies.

It is like May stating she trusts Russia, over MI5 regarding novichock

He is a total embarrassment to his country, and I thought he was putting America first

He has been absolutely played by Putin, as he was by Kim Jong un

The bloke is useless, and he thinks he is a good negotiator

All through the presidential election, his promise was America first, America first.

Yesterday, when asked to support HIS intelligence agencies, he rather believe a tyrant like Putin, over his people. Only after 3/4 hours of meeting the man

What has happened to America first ???
