Much better from Argyle. Entertaining game, which we probably just shaded and had a golden opportunity to win after good work from Ladapo to set up Sarcevic. We looked MUCH more solid. Signs that we're finding out what our best team is. Hopefully, this is the turning point.

Macey 9- Probably our MOM. Made some really important stops and looked confident.

Sawyer 7- Solid. It goes unnoticed, but he makes positioning and distribution look easy. It's noticeable when our other full-backs play.

Riley 4- Was getting skinned before being taken off

Canavan 7- Had a good game, won his aerial battles and defended well.

Edwards 7- The same

Songo'o 6 - Defensively strong as usual, works so hard, but poor distribution

Ness 7 - A reliable worker in the middle. Neat and tidy.

Sarcevic 7 - Our creative spark. Lots of good pressing high up the pitch, but missed a sitter.

C Grant 5 - Lively first half. Went missing 2nd before being taken off.

Carey 6 - Another off day, but moments of magic worth having him on the pitch for.

Ladapo 8 - Did a brilliant job up on his own. Ran in behind, held the ball up well and brought others into the game. Will have lots of bruises this eve from being battered and fought hard.

Joel Grant 8- Came on and made a big impact on the game. Beat his man a number of times, gave us an outlet and created some good openings.

A step in the right direction, a clean sheet and an away point.

It was a battling performance with the players giving everything during that second half which shows they are fighting for the cause.

Either team could have won it with both keepers making good saves in the second half, Macey tipping a shot around the post was especially good.
A change in formation during the second half and the introduction of Joel Grant helped change the game because up until that point we were under the cosh.

Adams started with a 4-4-1-1 formation with Carey playing behind Ladapo, this at least showed more attacking intent than against Pompey.
The old problems were still evident - a slow defence and lack of width due to playing four central midfielders but we did create some good chances with Conor Grant and Carey shooting wide plus a great solo effort from Ladapo.
Two very average sides.

The second half was more entertaining with Rovers putting us under a lot of pressure, number 8 for Rovers was running the game. Macey made that great save to atone for punching the ball instead of catching just seconds earlier.
We were hanging on.

Grant replaced Grant and we switched to a 4-1-2-3 formation with Carey wide right and Joel Grant wide left.
Suddenly we had width and took the game to Rovers.

Now it was Rovers hanging on mainly due to Ladapo and Joel Gran. Carey had a shot well saved and a huge goal scramble was agonising.

The players were now fired up and fighting for the cause.
The moment to win the game fell to Sarcevic and good work by Ladapo somehow Sarcevic shot wide when he really should have scored. What a miss!

Rovers caused a few late scares but overall a point is fair but we came so close to winning it.

Sawyer made a difference, he had an excellent game and was assured throughout.
Riley struggled with his winger and wasn't helped by picking up an injury and was replaced by Wootton, who also struggled.

Ladapo led the line well and was on a mission during those last 20 frantic minutes, he was everywhere.

The set pieces from Conor Grant were poor but he did at least play well during the first half before disappearing for the second half.

Having some width late in the second half made a huge difference to the team, it gave us attacking intent and stopped Rovers putting us under pressure.

Overall signs of improvement and the players are at least giving everything. We need to find our shooting boots because we actually creating chances.

The Hux was the 4th official but thankfully the ref didn't get injured.
Graham Coughlin applauded the Argyle fans at the end.

Man of the Match Ladapo.

Macey 7, Riley 5, Edwards 6, Canavan 6, Sawyer 7, Songo'o 6, Ness 6, Sarcevic 7, Carey 6, C Grant 6, Ladapo 8. Subs J Grant 7, Wootton 5, Taylor n/a.

But how many pens should we have had? I would say the improved performance should be taken in the context of poor opposition.

More solid than I was expecting and with a bit more belief I feel we could have nicked it. Much of the shooting in the first half was very tentative. A draw was a fair result.
I feel we're missing a real leader on the pitch. I actually agree that it was fairly entertaining - an engrossing game between two fairly well matched sides. Joel Grant's cameo was very good and Ladapo continues to do enough to earn his place. Hopefully a confidence booster for Macey and his defence too.

Watched it on iPlayer. We looked good for about 10 minutes in the second half when we were passing the ball. Still very wasteful in possession - long balls to no one, goal kicks going straight through to their keeper, stray passes and not enough passing forward. Hopefully a clean sheet will instil some confidence. Carey is an enigma at the moment; flashes of what he can do but not the player we had last season. Ladapo offers much more than Taylor going forward, J Grant needs to be more positive but made a difference, Sarce of course should've scored but was always looking to make something happen. Overall it was decent but I think the opposition flattered us. We need something extra - last season it was Toums. This season? Still wait and see.

Positive that we managed to keep a clean sheet, though it sounds like Rovers were pretty poor today. Now we need to start beating the teams which don’t get take their chances, as well as being more resolute against the better quality teams.

I haven’t always been convinced of Joel Grant’s contribution but it seems he has earned a starting place based on his appearance from the bench today.

Conor Grant isn’t offering enough and we can’t afford to be carrying any passengers.

Whilst the opposition are far inferior in terms of expectations our away today does, like our game against Blackburn last year, offer a starting point on which to build.

We are far from out of the woods yet, lots more work to do!

My worry is that for all of Ladapo's endeavour and industry up top, that is now just 5 goals in 7 games for us (and just 2 in 5 in the league!) since we started putting him up front instead of Taylor. At least with Taylor it was 2 in 2. Worrying.

Genuine question... Is C Grant an out and out CM in the role that we use him in?

Seems he’s there but not really contributing to much, again.

Says a lot that we're thrilled with a 0-0 draw. For me, the worrying lesson is that we were evenly matched - against relegation contenders Rovers.

Some positives to take from the game but 3 points from 7 games...? Could do with some green tints convincing me that everything will be ok!
