I was surprised to read that the average wage at Argyle is only £1369 per week which ranks us 19th in league one not 16th as some have reported.

Where was that reported?

It looks like the Herald has copied a report from a football fans website regarding wages, although there's no information as to how they arrived at their figures for player wages.

Might fit why a fair amount of players reject contract offers and move on, seems as though they come down on a low wage to prove themselves then perhaps don't feel they're being appropriately rewarded when it's renewal time?

Interesting. How do you define a player’s wage? Should it be 2k, 9k or 20k? What’s it got to do with us?

How much do you get paid?

Daniel Levy revels in the fact that he’s an absolute miser and grinds the agents into the ground, good on him too. Arsenal reportedly have a tight wage structure (comparatively), they’re successful enough, I find Pochettino a brilliant model to follow in terms of modern management.

Players wages, hmmmmm, there’s a brilliant story about Leeds Utd of Ridsdales era, read about it, read about Seth Johnstone’s negotiations with O’Leary and Ridsdale

Trowbridge or Bristol
Is that the average wage of the players? Or all staff including the part time, seasonal staff like turnstile operators and catering outlet staff? What about the development players? Part time coaches?

With no context it's just a number, and means the square route of chuff all.

For the 20 Premier League clubs, we took average weekly salary figures from the 2017 Global Sports Salary Survey. For the 72 EFL clubs, we looked at weekly wage data from the 2018 edition of Football Manager, taking an average of each team’s first team squad’s weekly earnings. The data from the game has been applauded on numerous occasions for its accuracy, and is even a recognised scouting system for clubs, as a result of their 1,300 researchers across the globe.

To find the average weekly earnings of the fans, we looked at the median weekly pay figures for the local authority of each team from the latest ‘Annual Salary of Hours and Earnings’ from the Office for National Statistics. (For London teams, we looked at the average earnings for their local borough.)

We then divided the teams’ average earnings with the fans to find out how much more they earned.

Thanks.
So the source is from a computer game and not to be treated as fact.

And if we did know average wages we'd need to average living costs as well. Expect both to be lower in Plymouth than the rest of England
