Analysis: It’s time for Taylor to start

There is little reason to suggest that Ladapo should start any of the next three matches given his dreadful record away from home and against top teams. With no goals against any of the top eight teams in League One - despite starting every single match against them - and just three away from home all season, the case for Ladapo starting makes little sense.

Excellent article, fully agree with this. Start with Taylor and have Ladapo on the bench to come on when needed.

Anyone who has listened to the podcast this season will know I've been tearing my hear out all season about Taylor's lack of minutes. Ladapo has clear weaknesses that make him significantly less effective in games against top teams, so why does he continue to start them? Likewise away from home when we have the wrong midfield in place to support him.

He really should have been a godsend: a player capable of offering a goal-scoring threat to pair with Taylor's more selfless approach. The two should have been rotated to deadly effect throughout the season. Instead, Ladapo has been undroppable and Argyle have wasted points trying to accommodate him in the wrong games. The defence takes so much stick, but nobody points to the seven games in which Argyle failed to score, since January which has been in large part because Ladapo started them instead of Taylor. Nor that Ladapo has scored in just four of seventeen matches in that time.
