They were bland and boring compared to the ones they replaced anyway. In fact I forgot we even had pylons since we lost the traditional tapered ones you could see from miles around, shame we can’t have that type back.

Great news if it's right about them being brighter. Been too dark imo in evening matches for years.

When the built the horseshoe they had to turn down the lighting along the Lindy as it overpowered the lights on the grandstand side,, because all areas of the pitch are supposed to have the same light levels. IIRC the Lindy lights are capable of providing a sufficient LUX level for international matches. Had the original plans for replacing the grandstand come to fruition, the Lindy-alike new grandstand would have had the same lights and we could have had the brightest pitch in the lower leagues.

Are the new gantry of lights LED? Longer lasting, cheaper to run, less wasted light, environmentally more friendly and they don't require a period of time to "warm up" to full illumination. Obviously, changing all to LED in one go would be a bit of an unaffordable outlay right now but this could be the perfect opportunity to start a gradual upgrade.

And emit an awful, cold, white light and potentially cause cancer. I hope not.
