I just wondered as an exile, where things are up to with this development?

Having checked the web, there's quite a few references to the proposal being approved, but, nothing in the last year or so?

Would have the potential to be a superb addition to the City's accommodation options for visitors or exiles.

Anyone know the latest?

The plan was to develop the Melville Block, which was formerly MOD offices and stores, into a Five Star Hotel. Whilst Melville Square, the interior quadrangle was to be a swimming pool. All Pie in the Sky...It will never happen.

The proposed hotel, costing between £18-£21m has been delayed as reported in The Herald in July this year.

Thanks, hadn't seen that report. Disappointing news - let's hope it won't end up as delayed as our Grandstand.

Graham....Melville Block was designed to be a storeage area,(clothes, badges, sewing room, and such, complemented by rows and rows of office space) it was never meant to be a Five Star Hotel, and never will be.The inner quadrangle is solid concrete, and will cost a Kings Fortune to transform it into a swimming pool. The entrance under the Melville clock is also way too narrow and as for car parking, there aint any...(even when in MOD hands cars had to be parked outside in Stonehouse as there simply wasn't the room inside)...The developer clearly doesn't know a thing about RWY..
