I would recommend Peverell.

Very close to Home Park for starters, but also close to Mutley for shops / pubs. Not too far for the city centre either.

The roads that straddle the land between Weston Park Road and Peverell Park Road are ideal as both of these are on bus routes.

Terrible parking though... Peverell is now over-run by parked cars.

When we moved to Plymouth in 1992 we rented a flat on Peverell Park Road. Then we bought a small terraced house in Limetree Road (also Peverell) before moving to a 1930s semi in Berrow Park Road (also Peverell, just to the east of Weston Park Road). After that we moved down to Mutley (a three-storey Victorian semi in Connaught Avenue) and got out of there just in time I reckon, moving onto the Tor Estate in Hartley. Looking back, I reckon we should have pushed the boat out a bit at the time of our second or third move and gone straight to where we are now. It's a great location - a little more spaced out than Peverell/Mutley, near the park, near a supermarket, near the Manadon Roundabout and Tavistock Road so great for getting in and out and walking distance to schools, Argyle and the city centre (40 minutes). But one thing I didn't think about when we moved there is that it is at the top of a hill so boy is it windy (certainly in comparison to Mutley). It also means that I always have to finish my runs from home with an uphill section which isn't great. Life eh, you can never get everything perfect!
