Captain Gary Sawyer spoke about his three match suspension ..club website
“It was the first time I’ve been shown a straight red card, so to miss three games for that reason is obviously frustrating for myself, but I was lucky with how it fell.
“With it being a Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday and having a game on the following Tuesday, so it was only like missing a week and you miss that sometimes through illness."

Cambridge interim manager Mark Bonner spoke about the game ...
“That’s the hardest fought clean sheet we’ve had I think. Newport came close, but I thought we played a top, top team today and we’ve put in a really resolute, strong performance.
“To get in at half time 0-0 was a real challenge for us. We got really stretched in the first half, more than any team has stretched us.
“We expected that, they’ve got the best player in the league in Danny Mayor who caused us problems all afternoon.
“I’m really proud, not many teams come here and keep clean sheets.
“There’s a reason for that, they are talented, have a big crowd on their side, it felt like a proper day.”
