1) The headline I guess was the return of Sarcevic in for the suspended Songo'o. Having read comments from the last two games in was surprised to see Edwards retain his place. Less surprised to see O'Keefe retain his place given the injury problems. Ness and Canavan among the subs as well as a first for Luke Jephcott (I can hear Mark Matthews - "it's not his turn").

2) Argyle started brightly and Ladapo scored a great opener from an incisive through ball from Carey. It didn't last long a soft free kick given away but Fox was chipped to the back post where two Burton players were free to head it back away cross goal to a third whilst Argyle stood and watched.

3) Argyle were OK before we scored but then lost our way after the equaliser. Burton built a number of attacks and it looked like a matter of time before they added to their score. However it appeared that Burton have as poor a defence as we have as Lameiras and Ladapo combined to force the defence into a mistake for Ladapo to round the goalie.

4) Again the lead didn't last long Fox again penalised and giving away a free-kick although it was dubious. Macey made a save then we got done by poor defending of the resulting corner. Overall a much better first half fron argyle but Burton will feel unlucky to go in all square. Peter Grant and Tafari Moore had good halves as did Sarcevic, O'Keefe and Ladapo. Carey and Lameiras guilty of over playing and being careless with possession.

5) Burton came out the sharper at the start on the second and Argyle went through a long period where they couldn't get or keep possession. The defence were at sixes and sevens and we couldn't keep the ball clear. We almost conceded from one corner. The Argyle crowd were on the verge of turning against the team and the manager.

6) Sarcevic was knackered and running on empt but it was Fox and Lameiras who were replaced by Ness and Wylde. Many in the crowd didn't agree with his substitution of Lameiras and a chant of "you don't know what you are doing" rang around the ground. Within minutes Wylde and Carey were arguing amongst themselves.

7) Ladapo was presented with a goden opportunity - one on one he put it wide. Sarcevic chased everything but he couldn't do it alone and needed others to have a similar mindset. He put Ladapo through again but Ladapo couldn't control the ball. Time was beginning to run out. Wylde pulled back a Burton player and yet again a set piece and a clear header.

8 ) O'Keefe came off and was replaced by Luke Jephcott to the background of "we want Adams out". Wylde was was a waste of a substitution. The bright spark was the return of Sarcevic. Ladapo's opener was a very good goal but apart from that he was very poor. Carey and Lameiras are still not able to bring the play offs last year

9) Absolutely shocking defending of set pieces. We created chances although the Burton defence was poor. We are in a terrible position and I can't see a way out of it. Adams hasn't a clue with his substitutions and our defence is woeful. He needs to go.

Matt Macey - 5
Tafari Moore - 7
Ryan Edwards - 6
Peter Grant - 8
Ashley Smith-Brown - 6
David Fox - 7
Stuart O'Keefe - 7
Antoni Sarcevic - 8

I admit it’s hard not to be wavering now.

We appear to be completely hopeless defensively. As others have suggested, this is something that can and should be worked on in training.

The only positive is that we seem to be ‘OK’ going forward, and it’s harder to score goals than to stop conceding them (though we seem to be disproving that at the moment)

Every week I think how poor the other teams are yet we still manage to lose.

WTF do we do in training ?

Why can't the defence defend set pieces ?

This is basic stuff FFS

Their Centre Back, McFazdean, was immense. Scored two headers, organised them and ran the show. A real leader. We had no one even close to him
In ability or defensive qualities

With Adams in charge I doubt very much we'll reach 10 points all season, Del boy needs to go now to stand any chance of staying in the 1st division. Oh and please take Wotton, Nance and Osborne with you. :furious:

The foundation of the team just isn't there. If we can't defend (and we certainly can't), then we can't be as strong in attack as we should be. We need to build a defense and we need to do it quickly.

Shocking... Adams and Wotton have got to go. Need fresh blood with new ideas and someone who is not afraid to try new things . Brent has done us big time with the 5 year deal for Adams. They wont sack him because they cant afford to. Thanks Brent

This.

I don’t think we have major issues in attack, the problem is that we have absolutely no sound defensive base to build on. So we have to score three goals to win a game.

The Bradley decision is looking utterly disastrous. You’d assume that we didn’t offer him higher wages because we had a back up plan that was better. Not worked out like that at all, and even Canavan being injured shouldn’t be a surprise and isn’t that even unlucky given his record.
