From what I've seen in pre-season and with Taylor and Sarcevic unlikely to be fit enough I'd go for this line-up v Walsall. ..

Burgoyne
Riley
Wootton
Canavan
Sawyer

Fox
Ness
C Grant

Carey
Lameiras
Ladapo

Subs:
Letheren
Edwards
Songo'o
Moore
Wylde (he's had a better pre-season so far than Ainsworth)
J Grant
Dyson or the new midfielder we are meant to be signing on loan

Great that we start the season with stronger competition for the bench than for a long time! Long may it continue undepleted by injuries: Fingers crossed!

Not an ideal start if there is no Taylor or Sarky...

Indeed Oddball, but “ we are where we are”. I’m sure we’re all hoping that they are, but if they’re not 100%, then at least we have options & don’t have to “ force-play” them.

I reckon Smith-Brown could make the bench. Sawyer was substituted a few times during games last season.

I love the idea of Tafari Moore coming on at RB or RW with half an hour to go, the lad's got pace to catch chickens and can dribble. What a change in pace and dynamics he could prove to be against tired legs.

Be happier if we had more strength in depth up front. Think Edwards will start too. Otherwise looks good.

Totally agree Nick, a fit Taylor would start for me and I’d have Eddy in at CB instead of Canavan.

I would like to see more of peter grant, was nice and vocal vs Bideford and seemed to win most things in the air, granted it was only Bideford. A talker/communicator is a big asset on the pitch. left foot too which helps the balance. hope he gets a better run out vs Yeovil to give a better indication of him.

How bad is Canavan's injury?

Minor. He trained the day after the Torquay game.

I would slmost agree. I think Letheren and Edwards would statrt

Real shame about Tayls and Sarcs mind. Really thought they would have been fit by now

It's good to see that Niall Canavan who apparently was an underwhelming signing and a back up option (in the opinion of many when he signed), one which didn't have a left foot either, has sufficiently impressed during the friendlies to be considered a starting left sided defender.
