Just looking for some advice from those driving tomorrow really. Which route is everyone taking and also what time is everyone setting off? Also what's the parking like around the ground? Should be a great atmosphere and really can't wait. Thankyou in advance for any replies

The M5/M4 route takes slightly longer but is obviously all motorway, the A303/M3 is more pleasant but limited chances to overtake the tractors or caravans. Flip a coin.

Parking is a nightmare, you could try the Just Park website and park on someone's driveway but these are now limited and more expensive.

Our group is setting off at 6.30 and picking up at Bristol so M5/M4 for us. Going to take pot luck with parking or park at a station in the west and get a tube

You'd be a lot better off parking somewhere south of London and getting the train, once you hit relatively central London the traffic is a nightmare.

What Andy said, find a station with easy parking close to the M25 and train in from there. Traffic in London on Saturdays is unpredictable but can be a complete nightmare.

One option is to park at Coulsdon Town station close to the M25 in south Croydon. You can get a train from there to London Bridge and then change for a train to Charlton.
If you want a direct service to Charlton it would mean driving right around the M25 to Dartford.

Driving up from the southwest - what about parking Basingstoke or Woking and getting the train into Waterloo? 40 mins and 25 mins respectively. No hassle.

Walk round to London Bridge station, train to Maze Hill for Greenwich or Charlton for - well, Charlton.

OR
Walk up the stairs to Waterloo East station - there are trains every 30 minutes to Charlton.

For example:
11:42 train London Waterloo East [WAE] Platform A to Charlton
Going through London Bridge [LBG] 11:46 depart 11:48 - And arriving at Charlton 12:04.

Or the next train, London Waterloo East [WAE] at 12:12 Platform A - And arriving at Charlton 12:34
and so on ...

For Parking
See http://www.footballgroundguide.com/leag ... ar-parking

Parking at the ground is for permit holders only. There is street parking, but due to a local residents parking scheme, not in close vicinity to the ground or Charlton railway station. However as you come off the A2 onto the A206, there is some street parking to be had on your right, in a couple of streets, before you reach the Rose of Denmark pub.

... 'There is some street parking to be had around the industrial estates in the area, in Westmoor Street, Eastmoor Street (the very road where the club was apparently formed 100 years ago!), Warspite Road and Ruston Road. If you are coming up the Woolwich Road from the Blackwall Tunnel, then as you go past the ground, the industrial estates are on the left hand side.

So just a heads up about the trains.

They are doing maintenance work tomorrow.

So check to see if/how your journey is affected. Long journey from Plymouth should be fine as they are redirecting the trains via Temple Meads but shorter journeys may need a part bus service. e.g if your an Argyle fan in the Wiltshire area
