As from Wednesday ,signs have been put up around the clock tower area asking dog owners to keep their dogs on leads with a fine of £100 for failing to do so.

Building work for a new cafe and tennis courts is due to start soon but I can't see how it can be enforced unless the council pay someone to be stationed in the area!!
Some dog walkers this morning didn't even see the signs.

Local authorities and parish councils have the power to apply Dog Control Orders if there have been complaints about dogs being out of control or if people haven't been cleaning up their dog-crap.

There are about 4 signs around the Pounds House area asking for dogs to be kept on leads but no one is there to enforce it.

There's signs in most towns and cities telling dog-walkers about the fine they'd receive for not collecting dog-mess, but there's never normally anyone around to enforce it. Doesn't mean people aren't caught: I'm sure there'll be some officials at the Park every couple of days.

I recall something about the area around Pounds House being a designated area for families, with dogs having to be kept on leads. Or perhaps I am imagining this?

You are correct but dogs are still let off leads there.

Anyone from the council up there this morning trying to enforce the dogs on a lead would have had a field day!!!!!!
No dog walkers seemed to be aware of the signs!!!

You wait: give it a couple of weeks and the Herald will run with a story about someone getting fined and making a fuss about it all. Probably with the obligatory picture of thr moody dog-owner pointing at the sign....

So, if you've seen the signs why haven't other visitors to the park? That's not an excuse they can use if they get caught.
