With five Middle East countries cutting diplomatic ties with Qatar because of alleged funding to terrorists groups and the destabilisation of the region as a whole, is it time for FIFA to strip Qatar of the World Cup ?

You can't take anything that comes from that part of the world seriously. Anyway FIFA will just consider this another bump in the road towards another giant pay day.

Well it is time to strip Quatar of the world cup isn't it, give it to England it is much safer over here, and not as hot? :/

England should have got it anyway if FIFA hadn't took a bribe of Qatar.

Even if it wasn't in Qatar (which it would be as money talks), it would have to go to another country from the Asia/Middle East region due to the FIFA rotation policy. Never really understand why everyone is so obsessed with having a World Cup here anyway.

Well we have won it every time we have hosted it and many think that is the only way we could possibly win it again. Personally, I don't believe we would.

The closer we get to 2022, should the need to move the tournament from Qatar then there won't be many countries in that part of the world who have the stadiums to jump in at the last moment. We of course could do that but we aren't the only ones.

It's almost as if there are no actual people working at UEFA and FIFA, just a series of Orang-Utans constantly hitting the "MORE FOOTBALL" button.

As it is, the World Cup barely copes with 32. Any competition that allows a side as bad as Panama to qualify needs to look at reducing entries, not increasing them. Even with 24 there were always a couple of no-hopers. Eighteen or sixteen are probably better if you really want a quality competition. The Euros were perfect at that number. But forty-bleedin-eight? God only knows what sort of footballing non-entities will get in. What exactly has the world done to deserve Scotland v United Arab Emirates on its screens?

I suppose you have to look at which countries the current system makes it difficult to qualify. China? India? It is all about markets, not sport. All of these countries are able to qualify if they have the determination and the ability. Or the cash.

We didn't apply - we only bid for 2018. The other candidates were Australia, Japan, Korea and the US.
